The Festival of Storytelling and Narrative Arts is a cultural event dedicated to the art of storytelling and narration, organized annually in February-March in Garennes-sur-Loire. Co-organized by the Association Conte Conteur Public (ACCP), founded in 1999 by Patrick Hétier, and the Garennes-sur-Loire media library with the support of the municipality, this festival features performances by professional storytellers for adults and children from 3 years old, spoken word lectures, poetic concerts, and workshops on spoken word and narrative.
The Festival of Storytelling and Narrative Arts in Garennes-sur-Loire is a unique cultural event in Maine-et-Loire, entirely dedicated to the art of storytelling and the spoken word. Created in 2022, this festival is the result of collaboration between the Association Conte Conteur Public (ACCP), founded in 1999 in Angers by storyteller Patrick Hétier, and the Garennes-sur-Loire media library, with the active support of the municipality.
The festival takes place over about ten days, between late February and early March, and offers a rich program for all audiences. Children from 3 years old can discover the magic of storytelling through performances specially designed for young audiences, while shows are reserved for teenagers and adults with more elaborate narratives, spoken word lectures, and poetic concerts. Professional storytellers invited come from all over France to share their art.
Beyond traditional storytelling, the festival explores the narrative arts in their diversity: contemporary storytelling, musical storytelling, spoken word lectures, poetic concerts, life stories. This openness shows that the art of telling stories takes a thousand forms and continues to reinvent itself. Participatory workshops also invite the public to learn the practice of storytelling and discover the power of the spoken word.
Since its first edition in 2022, the Festival of Storytelling and Narrative Arts has found its audience and established itself in the Anjou cultural landscape. Each edition enriches the program and broadens the circle of invited storytellers, making this winter event a highlight for lovers of stories and living spoken word throughout the department.
