Classical music, French chanson, and jazz in Toulouse
The Festival de Toulouse is the summer event initiated by Toulouse Métropole that brings together classical music, French chanson, and jazz every summer, in late June and early July. Conceived as a showcase of Toulouse's musical vitality, it fosters dialogue between the Orchestre national du Capitole, the newly created Orchestre du Festival, and nationally renowned guest artists in several emblematic venues of the 'ville rose'.
Launched in 2022, the Festival de Toulouse is the summer musical event supported by the City of Toulouse and Toulouse Métropole. Its artistic direction, entrusted to Julien Martineau, advocates a transversal program that blends classical music, French chanson, jazz, and contemporary creations, with particular attention to artists linked to the Toulouse scene.
Each year, the festival takes over several key venues in the city: the Auditorium Saint-Pierre des Cuisines for intimate concerts (chamber music, recitals, jazz), the Casino Théâtre Barrière for large orchestral forms, and the Halle aux Grains for French chanson headliners. Part of the program is also presented 'off-site' in the cultural centers of the metropolis and within healthcare establishments.
The Festival de Toulouse honors the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse, the ensemble Les Sacqueboutiers, and numerous guest soloists. To this classical backbone are added each year variety artists (Calogero, Axelle Red, Pomme, etc.) and jazz artists, programmed at the Halle aux Grains and the Auditorium Saint-Pierre des Cuisines.
The 5th edition of the Festival de Toulouse takes place from Tuesday, June 30 to Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Auditorium Saint-Pierre des Cuisines, the Casino Théâtre Barrière and — for the first time — at the Halle aux Grains. The program includes twelve concerts mixing classical music, French chanson, and jazz, notably featuring Calogero, Axelle Red, Pomme, Michel Plasson leading the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, and the creation of the Orchestre du Festival for a symphonic tribute to John Williams.
From June 30 to July 11, 2026, Toulouse Métropole presents a 5th edition of the Festival de Toulouse organized around twelve concerts. Classical music holds a central place, complemented by five major French chanson evenings at the Halle aux Grains and a jazz opening entrusted to Toulouse trumpeter Daoud.
First highlight: the birth of the Orchestre du Festival de Toulouse, which brings together the beating heart of Toulouse classical music. Its inaugural concert is dedicated to John Williams' film scores, accompanied by images created by the Toulouse studio TAT Productions.
Second highlight: the return of Michel Plasson at the helm of the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, twenty-three years after their last concert together.
Third highlight: the festival's first foray into the Halle aux Grains with three chanson evenings — Calogero, Axelle Red, and Pomme — complemented by a tribute to Barbara by Noëmi Waysfeld.
As every year, part of the festival takes place "off-site," with two free meet-and-greet workshops (by reservation) with artists programmed in the metropolitan cultural centers, as well as a presence at Hôpital Garonne. Regarding prices: from 19 to 95 € depending on the venue and seating, free for children under 13.
