Festival of Tomato and Flavors in Montlouis-sur-Loire

The Festival of Tomato and Flavors is a unique event that takes place every year in September at the Château de la Bourdaisière in Montlouis-sur-Loire. This festival celebrates the tomato in all its diversity and highlights the authentic flavors of the terroir, in the heart of an estate that houses the National Tomato Conservatory.

The Tomato Conservatory

The Tomato Conservatory Garden of Château de la Bourdaisière is a unique place in France that brings together over 700 varieties of tomatoes from around the world. From cherry tomatoes to beefsteak tomatoes, from black tomatoes to striped tomatoes, this exceptional collection testifies to the incredible biodiversity of this fruit-vegetable. The festival is an opportunity to visit this conservatory and discover rare and old varieties.

Tastings and Culinary Discoveries

The festival offers many tasting activities: blind tastings to recognize different varieties, culinary demonstrations by chefs, a tomato bar, juice bar, and tomato-based sandwiches and pastries. Visitors can discover the tomato in unexpected forms and learn to cook it in multiple ways.

A Market of Fifty Exhibitors

About fifty exhibitors are present to offer seeds and plants of old and original varieties, culinary products based on tomato, decoration items, cosmetics, and wellness products. It's an opportunity to acquire rare seeds for your own garden and discover quality artisanal products.

Conferences and Workshops

The program includes conferences on biodiversity, ecological gardening, and nutrition, as well as practical workshops for young and old. The Dahliacolor dahlia collection at the château adds a floral touch to the event. Since recent editions, an escape game "Les graines d'Angelier" in the castle cellars enriches the entertainment offerings.

An Exceptional Heritage Setting

The Château de la Bourdaisière, a Renaissance residence surrounded by a 55-hectare park, offers an idyllic setting for this event. Located in Montlouis-sur-Loire, between Tours and Amboise, the estate combines historical heritage and passion for plants, making the festival a complete cultural and sensory experience.
