The free and friendly festival of Nord-Isère
The Festival du Tonton is a free music festival held annually in early June in Oytier-Saint-Oblas, Isère. Born in 2011 from the passion of two brothers for live music, it offers two evenings of open-air concerts mixing rock, French chanson, pop, and festive music. Supported by the association Even'Mania and 120 volunteers, it attracts nearly 5,000 festival-goers each year in a rural and family-friendly atmosphere at the village stadium.
Each year at the beginning of June, the small village of Oytier-Saint-Oblas, nestled between Vienne and Bourgoin-Jallieu just 35 minutes southeast of Lyon, transforms into a true open-air music stage. The Festival du Tonton offers two evenings of completely free concerts in a charming and welcoming rural setting that appeals to both families and live music enthusiasts.
The adventure of the Festival du Tonton began between 2009 and 2011. Tristan and Mathieu, two brothers passionate about music, organized weekly concerts at the pizzeria “Tonton Pizz” in Saint-Just-Chaleyssin to showcase local emerging talents. Quickly, the desire to offer a larger stage to these artists led them to create an outdoor event. The first Festival du Tonton thus came to life in 2011 at the Oytier-Saint-Oblas stadium.
The association Even'Mania, founded in 2004 by a group of former conscripts from the village, was reactivated to support this new cultural project. What was initially just a village festival has evolved over the years into a must-attend musical event in Nord-Isère, now welcoming nearly 5,000 festival-goers at each edition.
The Festival du Tonton stands out with its rich and varied program, designed to reach a wide audience. Each edition boldly mixes headliners from the French scene with local discoveries. From rock to French chanson, including gypsy jazz, pop, ska, funk, and world music, the festival cultivates an unapologetic eclecticism that reflects different artistic sensibilities.
Among the artists who have graced the Tonton stage are iconic names such as Les Wampas, HK, Debout sur le Zinc, The Buttshakers, Arkange, Calle Alegria, and Efrasis. Each evening features between four and five bands, offering a continuous musical journey from early evening until late at night.
The strength of the Festival du Tonton lies in the commitment of its 120 volunteers who work throughout the year to bring this event to life. Thanks to the support of private and public partners, the festival remains true to its founding principle: access to culture for all, without financial barriers. Admission is completely free, allowing everyone to enjoy quality concerts in a relaxed and generous atmosphere.
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers a food court with local products, a friendly bar, free parking, and even a camping area for those who wish to extend the experience. The Festival du Tonton is more than just a musical event: it is a moment of sharing and celebration that brings together all generations.
13th edition of the Festival du Tonton on June 5th and 6th, 2026 in Oytier-Saint-Oblas. On the program: HK, Debout sur le Zinc, The Buttshakers, Marmaï, Lisa Claudie, and other artists for two evenings of free open-air concerts.
The Festival du Tonton returns for its 13th edition on June 5th and 6th, 2026, still at the Oytier-Saint-Oblas municipal stadium and still with a spirit of total gratuity. This new edition promises an ambitious program, mixing committed artists and musical discoveries.
Friday evening promises to be one of commitment with HK, an essential artist on the French scene known for his unifying universe and committed lyrics, accompanied by Marmaï, who blends modern influences and revisited traditions, Mèzenc, Bouki, and 111 to complete a lineup rich in discoveries.
Saturday will be dedicated to celebration with Debout sur le Zinc, a key band in festive French chanson, and The Buttshakers, an explosive duo from Lyon mixing soul, funk, and rock'n'roll. Lisa Claudie, Polokus & Mugen, and Oriigins will enrich this second evening with their unique styles.
As every year, the Festival du Tonton confirms its role as a popular and accessible festival, driven by the passion of its 120 volunteers and the desire to make Nord-Isère vibrate to the sounds of live music.
The Festival du Tonton takes place at the Oytier-Saint-Oblas Municipal Stadium, in the center of the village. Oytier-Saint-Oblas is located in the Isère department (38), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, about 35 minutes southeast of Lyon, between Vienne and Bourgoin-Jallieu.
Free parking is available for festival-goers near the stadium. It is advisable to arrive early enough to find a spot, especially on Saturday evening which attracts the largest number of spectators.
A free camping area is available for festival-goers wishing to spend the night on site. Bring your own equipment (tent, sleeping bag). Pitches are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Food stalls offer a varied selection of local products and hot meals. A bar is open throughout the concerts, with a selection of craft beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages. The organization reminds attendees that alcohol consumption should remain moderate.
The Festival du Tonton is 100% free. Access to both evenings of concerts is free and open to all, with no reservation required. This free access is made possible by the support of the festival's private and public partners.
