About Festival du Tonton

The Festival du Tonton is a free music festival held annually in early June in Oytier-Saint-Oblas, Isère. Born in 2011 from the passion of two brothers for live music, it offers two evenings of open-air concerts mixing rock, French chanson, pop, and festive music. Supported by the association Even'Mania and 120 volunteers, it attracts nearly 5,000 festival-goers each year in a rural and family-friendly atmosphere at the village stadium.

The festival that announces summer in Nord-Isère

Each year at the beginning of June, the small village of Oytier-Saint-Oblas, nestled between Vienne and Bourgoin-Jallieu just 35 minutes southeast of Lyon, transforms into a true open-air music stage. The Festival du Tonton offers two evenings of completely free concerts in a charming and welcoming rural setting that appeals to both families and live music enthusiasts.

A story born in a pizzeria

The adventure of the Festival du Tonton began between 2009 and 2011. Tristan and Mathieu, two brothers passionate about music, organized weekly concerts at the pizzeria “Tonton Pizz” in Saint-Just-Chaleyssin to showcase local emerging talents. Quickly, the desire to offer a larger stage to these artists led them to create an outdoor event. The first Festival du Tonton thus came to life in 2011 at the Oytier-Saint-Oblas stadium.

The association Even'Mania, founded in 2004 by a group of former conscripts from the village, was reactivated to support this new cultural project. What was initially just a village festival has evolved over the years into a must-attend musical event in Nord-Isère, now welcoming nearly 5,000 festival-goers at each edition.

An eclectic and accessible program

The Festival du Tonton stands out with its rich and varied program, designed to reach a wide audience. Each edition boldly mixes headliners from the French scene with local discoveries. From rock to French chanson, including gypsy jazz, pop, ska, funk, and world music, the festival cultivates an unapologetic eclecticism that reflects different artistic sensibilities.

Among the artists who have graced the Tonton stage are iconic names such as Les Wampas, HK, Debout sur le Zinc, The Buttshakers, Arkange, Calle Alegria, and Efrasis. Each evening features between four and five bands, offering a continuous musical journey from early evening until late at night.

A spirit of volunteerism and conviviality

The strength of the Festival du Tonton lies in the commitment of its 120 volunteers who work throughout the year to bring this event to life. Thanks to the support of private and public partners, the festival remains true to its founding principle: access to culture for all, without financial barriers. Admission is completely free, allowing everyone to enjoy quality concerts in a relaxed and generous atmosphere.

Beyond the concerts, the festival offers a food court with local products, a friendly bar, free parking, and even a camping area for those who wish to extend the experience. The Festival du Tonton is more than just a musical event: it is a moment of sharing and celebration that brings together all generations.

Festival du Tonton — edition 2026

13th edition of the Festival du Tonton on June 5 and 6, 2026 in Oytier-Saint-Oblas (Isère). For this new edition, the festival moves to the Prairie du Festival, right next to the municipal stadium. On the program: HK, Debout sur le Zinc, The Buttshakers, Marmaï, Mézinc, Bouki, 111, Oriigins, Lisa Claudie and Polokus & Mugen for two evenings of 100% free concerts outdoors.

13th edition: a new site, ten concerts, two free evenings

The Festival du Tonton returns for its 13th edition on June 5 and 6, 2026, still in Oytier-Saint-Oblas, but this year at the Prairie du Festival — a new site, right next to the municipal stadium, which allows for accommodating a growing audience. The founding principle remains intact: admission is 100% free for both evenings, without reservation.

Friday, June 5 — committed song and discoveries

The opening night mixes unifying headliners and young local acts. At 7:00 PM, Marmaï opens the festivities with its cocktail of reggae, ska, rock, and Lyon-style committed song. At 8:00 PM, Mézinc offers an electronic set with analog sounds and luminous atmospheres, signed by producer Quentin Audemard. At 8:30 PM, HK takes over the main stage with its anthems of resistance, a fusion of French song, reggae, and hip-hop. The evening continues at 10:00 PM with Bouki and its breakbeat/trap universe, then concludes at 10:45 PM with 111, a rock band in its rawest, punk-like version.

Saturday, June 6 — the big festive evening

Saturday begins at 6:00 PM with Oriigins and its folk-rock vocal harmonies. At 7:30 PM, Lisa Claudie, a Lyon artist with a powerful and captivating voice, blends pop and electronic music. At 8:15 PM, it's time for The Buttshakers, a Lyon soul-funk figure, for an explosive set of deep blues and addictive grooves. At 9:45 PM, Polokus & Mugen present their unique "Rap Musette," a blend of rap, accordion, and electronic music. The evening closes at 10:30 PM with Debout sur le Zinc, an essential band in festive French song, which has been enchanting the Francophone scene for over 30 years with rock, folk, reggae, and electronic music.

A popular and solidarity-based festival

As every year, the Festival du Tonton confirms its vocation as a popular and accessible festival, driven by the passion of its 120 volunteers, the Even'Mania association, and the support of private and public partners. Total free admission, free camping, free parking, and the new Prairie du Festival make this event one of the most anticipated of early summer in Nord-Isère.
