A traveling theater festival in Northern Meuse

The Festival Itinérant Les Ombres des Soirs is a unique theatrical adventure that takes over the villages and heritage sites of the Pays de Montmédy, on the borders of Meuse, Belgium, and Luxembourg, every summer. The company Les Ombres des Soirs leads this artistic project with the desire to bring theater to life where it doesn't usually go, as close as possible to rural residents.

Performances in exceptional locations

The originality of the festival lies in its traveling nature: the performances take place in unusual and heritage locations — churches, farmyards, ruins, gardens, village squares — which become natural settings for the shows. This staging, directly linked to the territory, creates a unique proximity between the artists and the audience.

A rich and varied program

Each edition offers about ten performances of various genres. The program includes Fantasmagories (improvisational theater games), Histoires de Géants (musical and humorous tale), Lettres Portugaises (moving monologue), and La Ferme des Animaux (adaptation of George Orwell's classic). The festival thus combines classical theater, contemporary creation, storytelling, and performance to reach a large and diverse audience.

Strong territorial roots

The festival travels through about ten municipalities in northern Meuse, contributing to the cultural vitality of this border rural area. By investing in sometimes very small villages, Les Ombres des Soirs creates a unifying event that brings together residents and visitors around live performance. The festival also participates in the promotion of the region's built and landscape heritage.

Lively and accessible theater

True to its vocation as popular theater, the festival is accessible to all audiences. The open-air performances and those in open spaces allow for an immersive and friendly theatrical experience, in an exceptional natural and heritage setting. The festival is an invitation to stroll, discover, and marvel.

Les Ombres des Soirs — edition 2026

The 4th edition of the Festival Itinérant Les Ombres des Soirs will once again take over the villages and heritage sites of the Pays de Montmédy for a week of open-air traveling theater.
