Theater creation festival in the Mauges region of Sèvremoine
Born in 2021 from the imagination of Elsa Duret and Léo Lebreton, the Festival La Turbulente has found its home in Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, a delegated commune of Sèvremoine, in the heart of the rural Mauges region in Maine-et-Loire. This theater creation festival has quickly established itself as an original summer cultural event, promoting a vision of popular, committed, and festive theater.
Every summer, for about ten days in late June and early July, the Compagnie La Turbulente presents its own open-air theater creations at the Georges Raymond stadium in Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges. The festival generally features three original plays exploring contemporary themes: life paths, youth aspirations, identities, and revisited myths. In 2024, the theme of sport was highlighted in echo to the Paris Olympic Games.
Beyond theater, the festival celebrates music and popular festivities. Each edition includes musical events — DJ sets, concerts, blind tests — that extend the evenings in a friendly atmosphere. The festival traditionally concludes with a closing concert that brings together festival-goers and local residents. Performances are also offered in the commune's EHPADs (nursing homes), demonstrating the company's social commitment.
La Turbulente cultivates a deep connection with its territory. The festival extends beyond the Georges Raymond stadium, engaging other venues in Sèvremoine — Place Sainte-Marguerite, the nursing homes of Saint-Germain-sur-Moine, Saint-Crespin-sur-Moine, and Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges. This itinerant approach allows it to reach a large and diverse audience, true to its ambition of popular theater accessible to all.
The 6th edition of the Festival La Turbulente is confirmed in Sèvremoine (Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges) in late June-early July 2026. Carried by a troupe of young artists, the Compagnie La Turbulente presents three new open-air theatrical creations — Yaga by Charlotte Mosser, Plus ou moins l'infini by Clémence Weill and La 45e minute, a participatory creation — punctuated by an opening concert, a carte blanche to Hugo Latté, a fouées banquet and convivial festive moments.
For its sixth edition, the Festival La Turbulente returns in late June-early July 2026 to Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges (delegated commune of Sèvremoine, Maine-et-Loire). True to its spirit of popular, accessible and resolutely festive open-air theatre, the festival combines theatrical creations, music and convivial moments open to all.
Beyond the shows, this edition offers an opening concert, a carte blanche to Hugo Latté (offbeat bingo, musical games and participatory surprises), a traditional fouées banquet and a refreshment bar before and after the performances, extending the theatrical experience in a popular festive atmosphere.
As of the verification date, Compagnie La Turbulente is finalizing the program: the precise dates and times of each performance will be published in the weeks preceding the festival on the official website and the company's Facebook page.
