The national humor festival between Tain-l'Hermitage and Tournon-sur-Rhône since 1989
The Festival National des Humoristes is the major humor event in the Rhône valley, organized every late August between Tain-l'Hermitage and Tournon-sur-Rhône since 1989. For ten days, the festival presents the best of humor in all its forms in various venues across several towns in Ardèche Hermitage. Hundreds of artists have performed here since its creation, including Laurent Gerra, Dany Boon, Florence Foresti, and Élodie Poux. A true springboard for young talents, it has become a national reference for humor.
Since 1989, the Festival National des Humoristes has been filling the air with laughter between Tain-l'Hermitage (Drôme) and Tournon-sur-Rhône (Ardèche), on both sides of the Rhône. Over the decades, this festival has become one of the major humor events in France, attracting thousands of spectators for ten days each summer.
Every evening at the end of August, the festival schedules humor shows in all their diversity: one-man shows, stand-up, sketches, improvisation, musical humor, and café-théâtre. The program mixes confirmed headliners and emerging young talents, making the festival a true springboard for the new generation of comedians.
Since its creation, hundreds of artists have performed on the festival's stages. Among the most famous: Laurent Gerra, Dany Boon, Florence Foresti, Vincent Dubois of Les Bodin's, Élodie Poux, and many other comedians who have become national stars. The festival has successfully identified and revealed talents long before their media breakthrough.
The Festival des Humoristes has chosen to set up in various performance venues spread across several towns: Tournon-sur-Rhône, Tain-l'Hermitage, Mercurol-Veaunes, La Roche-de-Glun, Beaumont-Monteux, Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, and Saint-Victor. This multi-site approach allows it to reach a wide audience and bring the Ardèche Hermitage region to life with humor.
The festival contributes to the tourism and cultural influence of the Rhône valley, in the heart of the Hermitage and Côtes du Rhône vineyards. It enhances the attractiveness of the Ardèche Hermitage destination and generates significant economic benefits for local accommodation providers, restaurateurs, and businesses.
