Fest-noz and celebrations of Breton culture in Saint-Cast-le-Guildo
The Festival of Brittany in Saint-Cast-le-Guildo is an annual event organized by the Bagad Salicornes to celebrate Breton culture through a grand fest-noz, a parade of bagadou and Celtic circles, as well as traditional music concerts. Part of the national Festival of Brittany (Gouel Breizh), this spring event brings together musicians, dancers, and Breton culture enthusiasts at the Nicolardot stadium for a day and evening of celebration, dance, and sharing.
Every year in May, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo celebrates the Festival of Brittany (Gouel Breizh) with a program rich in traditions and music. Organized by the Bagad Salicornes, this event brings together Bretons and friends of Brittany for a fest-noz and parades of bagadou and Celtic circles through the streets of the seaside resort.
The heart of the festival is the fest-noz, a large open-air Breton dance evening at the Stade Nicolardot. Traditional music groups — duos, trios, and fest-noz ensembles — get the audience dancing to tunes of gavotte, an dro, and plinn. The fest-noz is accompanied by refreshment stands and on-site catering.
On Sunday, a grand parade of bagadou and Celtic circles winds through the streets of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, culminating in the Triomphe des Sonneurs, bringing together all the participating groups. Among the invited ensembles over the years: the Bagad de Lann Bihoue, the Bagad Douar Ha Mor, the Bagad de Lehon, the Cercle des Embruns, and the Cercle de Frehel.
The fest-noz takes place at the Stade Nicolardot, Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, 22380.
