About Festival of the King
The King's Festival is a historical and festive event that transforms the Château de Pau district into an open-air theatre for three days. Created in 2024, this festival pays tribute to Henri IV through three thematic days: medieval, Renaissance, and Béarnaise. Artisan markets, costumed parades, fire shows, king's archers, Quille de neuf, concerts, and banquets immerse visitors in the heart of Béarn's history.

The King's Festival: Pau celebrates Henri IV
The King's Festival is a historical and festive event that pays tribute to Henri IV, the favorite king of the people of Pau, born at the Château de Pau in 1553. Every summer, the Château district transforms into an open-air theatre, immersing visitors in three distinct eras over three thematic days.
Three days, three eras
The first day is dedicated to the Middle Ages, with a market of creators and artisans, demonstrations of fencing and medieval combat, street entertainment, a medieval meal, and fire shows in the evening.
The second day celebrates the Renaissance, with the arrival of Henri IV on horseback, a grand parade of costumed participants in the late morning, street entertainment throughout the day, and the King's Ball in the evening.
The third day honors Béarnaise traditions, with a traditional mass at Saint-Martin church, a royal banquet composed of local products, and a festive closing in the early afternoon.
An event in the heart of the historic district
The King's Festival takes place in the Château district, one of the oldest in Pau, on Boulevard du Midi, Place de la Déportation, Place Royale, Place Récaborde, and adjacent streets, with the majestic Château de Pau as a backdrop. This exceptional historical setting gives the event a unique atmosphere, combining popular celebration and historical re-enactment.
A project supported by local actors
Organized by the Association du Bon Roi Henry, the King's Festival brings together merchants, artisans, artists, and volunteers around a common project: to bring the history of Pau and Béarn to life through a popular, friendly, and accessible event for all.

Festival-goer reviews
2.0/5 (1 reviews)Bonjour, j'y suis allée avec mon fils, j'ai été très contrariée de voir les exposants en plein soleil, alors qu'il y avait de l'ombre dans le parc du château 😩
