The digital art festival in the heart of the Alps, in Ugine, Savoie
The Festival Univers Numériques in Ugine is a unique event dedicated to artistic creations driven by new technologies. Every year in February, the town of Ugine transforms into an open-air gallery, hosting sensory, interactive, visual, and sound digital works. Born from a cultural dynamic initiated in 2017 with the Inoxydays, the festival has established itself as a flagship event for digital art in the Alpine region, supported by the Ville d'Ugine and the Arlysère community of agglomeration.
The Festival Univers Numériques is a singular cultural event that takes over the town of Ugine, at the foot of the Savoie Alps, every winter. Supported by the Ville d'Ugine in collaboration with Arlysère, this festival offers a fascinating panorama of contemporary artistic creations based on new technologies: immersive installations, interactive works, visual projections, sound experiences, and digital performances.
The festival's history dates back to 2017, when cultural partners from the region and the steel company Ugitech collaborated to create the Inoxydays, an event combining industry and culture. This initiative gradually germinated and transformed into a festival entirely dedicated to digital art, with its first edition taking place in 2023. In just a few years, the event has forged a strong identity, attracting digital artists, the curious, and families.
The festival unfolds in several emblematic locations in Ugine: municipal halls, the music school, the Chantecler cinema, and even public spaces transformed for the occasion. Visitors are invited to wander through an artistic trail dotted with surprising installations, participatory workshops, and live performances blending technology and poetry. The festival also extends to Beaufort-sur-Doron, strengthening its territorial presence in the Beaufortain region.
True to its mission of cultural democratization, the Festival Univers Numériques offers largely free access to its installations and exhibitions. Educational workshops are organized in advance for schoolchildren, allowing young people to discover digital creation professions. Weekends are open to the general public, with hours adapted for families.
The festival embodies an ambitious vision: that of an Alpine territory embracing innovation while preserving its identity. By creating a dialogue between digital art and industrial heritage, Ugine asserts its cultural uniqueness and offers its inhabitants and visitors an extraordinary artistic experience, far from the traditional circuits of contemporary art.
The 5th edition of the Festival Univers Numériques in Ugine is scheduled from February 4th to 8th, 2026. The festival will continue its exploration of digital arts with new immersive installations, participatory workshops, and live performances in several locations in the town.
