Marlenheim, gateway to the Alsace Wine Route

The town marks the northern starting point of the Alsace Wine Route. Surrounded by vine-covered hillsides, it is renowned for its Pinot Noir—a rare variety in Alsace—though its terroir is also well-suited to traditional white grape varieties.

From Grape Harvest Festival to Autumn Festival

The first Grape Harvest Festival took place in 1967, initiated by then-mayor Xavier Muller. For decades, it featured the return of the grape pickers on a float and traditional grape pressing in the town square, accompanied by the distribution of fresh juice. For the 2026 edition, the Town of Marlenheim has rebranded the event as the "Autumn Festival," with no grape picker procession or traditional pressing.

The day's events

The town organizes a street sale and flea market throughout the day in the city center. At the Salle des Roseaux, the Marlenheim Handball Club serves lunch (featuring a harvester's plate, mixed salad, and choucroute) accompanied by a live band. An art exhibition is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the Les Roseaux cultural hall. The detailed program for the current year can be found on the specific event page.
