The Fresnes-sur-Marne Village Festival: a spring gathering in the heart of Seine-et-Marne

A small rural commune in Seine-et-Marne with approximately 950 inhabitants, Fresnes-sur-Marne organizes its Village Festival every year around May 8th at the Parc des Quatre Saisons. This green space, developed in 2020 near the Gabin Chambost school, the dojo, and the media library, hosts a funfair and a village barbecue for several days, bringing together the residents of Fresnes for a friendly occasion.

The park, structured into four planted areas each representing a season, serves as the setting for this annual festival organized by the town hall and the municipal council. Its immediate proximity to the school complex, the leisure center, and the library makes it the natural venue for key communal events in this village of Pays de la Goële and Multien.

The funfair and the Sunday barbecue

The central element of the Village Festival is the funfair set up at the Parc des Quatre Saisons during the long weekend: children's rides, bumper cars, and sweets create a fairground atmosphere enjoyed by families. On Sunday, the municipality organizes a large barbecue starting around noon (approximately 12:30 PM): grilled food and salads are shared among neighbors, friends, and families, outdoors or indoors at the village hall in case of capricious weather.

On the closing Monday, the mayor and members of the municipal council proceed with a free distribution of ride tickets to the village children: ride tickets for 3-7 year olds, bumper car tickets for 8-13 year olds, plus a distribution of sweets for everyone. Prior registration with the town hall is generally required for the Sunday barbecue.

Fresnes-sur-Marne is part of the Roissy Pays de France agglomeration community and retains a village character marked by the town hall square, the Saint-Étienne church, and its proximity to the Marne river. The Village Festival is part of a broader festive season that also includes communal events throughout the year (flea markets, associative events, end-of-year celebrations).
