The Fête de l'Abonde: a cultural and offbeat tradition since 1988

Since 1988, the association Abonde Animation has been organizing the Fête de l'Abonde every year in the village of Lamoura, in the heart of the Haut-Jura. What started as a simple village festival has transformed over the decades into a major cultural event in the region, renowned for its festive, offbeat, and friendly atmosphere.

A different theme each year

The originality of the Fête de l'Abonde lies in its annual theme, which sets the tone for the entertainment, decorations, and general atmosphere of the festival. This theme, chosen by the association, is a source of creativity and inventiveness for the volunteers who transform the village according to the chosen theme. The themes, often offbeat and humorous, contribute to the festival's reputation as the most 'offbeat' in the Haut-Jura.

A large-scale craft market

The heart of the Fête de l'Abonde is its craft market, which brings together over 100 artisans from all over the region and beyond each year. The stalls offer a wide variety of artisanal creations: jewelry, pottery, woodwork, textiles, leather goods, soaps, gourmet products, and local specialties. This market is an exceptional showcase for artisans and producers in the region.

Performances, concerts, and entertainment

The cultural program of the Fête de l'Abonde is rich and eclectic:

Lamoura, a village in the Haut-Jura

Perched at an altitude of 1,156 meters, Lamoura is one of the highest municipalities in the Jura. This small mountain village, part of the Station des Rousses, is surrounded by spruce forests, pastures, and high-altitude lakes. The Fête de l'Abonde contributes to the cultural dynamism of this mountainous territory and attracts a large audience from all over the region every August 15th.
