Craft beer and alternative music festival in Vendée
Born in 1999 in the small village of Saint-Hilaire-de-Voust in the heart of the Vendée bocage, Fête de la Bière is a must-attend event for lovers of craft beer and alternative music. Every first weekend of September, the Minimac association transforms the hamlet of La Bernerie into a festive place where about ten craft beers on tap, rock, punk, ska, and hardcore concerts, and a friendly village atmosphere come together. A 100% independent event, this festival attracts nearly 2,000 people over two evenings for an accessible price for everyone.
Created in 1999 by the Minimac association, Fête de la Bière in Saint-Hilaire-de-Voust has established itself over the years as a major event on the alternative scene in southern Vendée. In the hamlet of La Bernerie, a few kilometers from La Châtaigneraie, this entirely independent festival celebrates craft beer and live music in a rural and authentic setting.
A strong point of the event, the selection of craft beers is the pride of the festival. Each edition offers between ten and twelve beers on tap, carefully chosen from French and European craft breweries. Blondes, ambers, browns, IPAs, or seasonal beers: visitors can discover varied and original flavors, far from traditional distribution channels. This quality beer offering, served outdoors under the Vendée stars, makes this festival a true craft beer show in a rural setting.
Fête de la Bière would not be complete without its concerts. Since its creation, the festival has focused on an eclectic lineup mixing rock, punk, ska, hardcore, and alternative chanson. Over two evenings, four to six bands perform on stage from 8 PM to 3 AM, offering raw energy and a rare closeness between artists and the audience. Over the years, the festival has hosted bands such as Les Cadavres, Nina'School, La Mathilde, Liga Quintana, Pochette Surprise, Les Lokataires, and Escaping Reality.
What sets Fête de la Bière apart from major festivals is its village spirit. Organized by passionate volunteers in a commune of 600 inhabitants, the festival retains a human and warm dimension. Free camping nearby, on-site catering, and very affordable prices contribute to this relaxed atmosphere where festival-goers feel like family. The 100% independent Minimac association refuses any sponsorship from major brands to preserve the authenticity of the event.
