Craft beer festival and rock concerts in Val-de-Meuse, Haute-Marne
The Fête de la Bière Haut-Marnaise is a festive event organized every year in September by the association Les Nestor in Montigny-le-Roi, in the commune of Val-de-Meuse, Haute-Marne. Since its first edition in 2020, this event highlights craft breweries from the department and the region, accompanied by rock concerts, food trucks, and local artisans. The event takes place in front of the village hall starting at 5:30 PM and brings together nearly 1,500 beer and music lovers each year in a friendly and popular atmosphere.
Created in 2020 by the association Les Nestor, the Fête de la Bière Haut-Marnaise was born from a passion for local craft beers and rock music. From its very first edition, the event met with resounding success, forcing organizers to turn away over 600 people around 9 PM. This unexpected triumph convinced the team to make this now essential event in southern Haute-Marne a permanent fixture.
The heart of the festival lies with the craft breweries of Haute-Marne, which present their creations throughout the evening. Among the regular participants are Brasserie de Vauclair, Brasserie Lingone, Brasserie du Bassigny, Brasserie de la Blaise, La Choue, and Brasserie Burri's. Guest brewers from other regions complete the offering, such as the craft brewery Alarik from Béziers, specializing in organic beers. The association also offers its own beer, the Binouse des Nestor, brewed especially for the occasion. Le Chai de la Croisotte complements the selection with wines and spirits, while non-alcoholic beverages are also available.
The Fête de la Bière Haut-Marnaise would not be complete without its musical program. Each edition features between four and six rock concerts that liven up the evening until midnight. Previous editions have hosted tribute bands and original compositions in various styles: tributes to Indochine (Black City), Téléphone (Anna), Scorpions (Lojorden), Offspring (Onspring), or even AC/DC (Black Bell). Celtic rock, festive Latin rock, and pop-rock are also featured with bands like The Black Clover, Ceux d'la Mouff, Jenny Martin, or Suzy Cat's. The Rock'n Puppets show, blending hard rock and puppets, has become a highly anticipated event for the public.
Several food trucks offer a variety of food on-site: pizzas, rotisseries, world cuisine, and local specialties. Artisans and creators add to the atmosphere with stands for personalized items, glass engraving, and handmade creations. Since the fifth edition, a VIP area has been offered to festival-goers seeking a privileged space, and the site has been expanded for greater comfort. The event also hosts local community partners, such as parent associations, sports clubs, and charities, strengthening the festival's local roots.
With nearly 1,500 participants expected each year, the Fête de la Bière Haut-Marnaise has established itself as one of the key events of the back-to-school season in southern Haute-Marne. The Les Nestor team, growing from 8 to over 20 volunteers over the editions, continuously innovates to enhance the experience: introduction of a second stage, partnerships with new breweries, and diversification of the cultural offerings. Conviviality, the discovery of local craft beers, and rock music remain the three pillars of this popular festival that enthusiastically celebrates the brewing know-how of Haute-Marne.
