Fête de la Coquille Saint-Jacques de la Baie de Saint-Brieuc
A rotating festival celebrating the Saint-Jacques scallop across three ports in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc
2026
About Fête de la Coquille Saint-Jacques
The Scallop Festival (Fête de la Coquille Saint-Jacques) takes place every April in one of the three scallop-fishing ports of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc: Paimpol, Saint-Quay-Portrieux, or Erquy. The location rotates each year. Featuring tastings, concerts, sea excursions, and an artisanal market, the event celebrates the scallop-fishing trade and the famous Saint-Jacques scallop itself.

A festival that rotates between three ports
The festival was established in 1992. In the early 1990s, the fishing industry was struggling with rising fuel costs and falling prices due to imports. The Côtes-d'Armor Economic Expansion Committee, the Shellfish section of the Regional Committee, and the Saint-Brieuc Local Fisheries Committee decided to create an event to highlight the work of local fishermen and promote the Saint-Jacques scallop. The first edition was held at the port of Erquy.
Today, the festival rotates between the three scallop ports of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc: Saint-Quay-Portrieux, Paimpol, and Erquy. In recent years, it was held in Erquy in 2023, in Paimpol on April 20th and 21st, 2024, in Saint-Quay-Portrieux on April 26th and 27th, 2025, and in Erquy on April 25th and 26th, 2026. The host port for the following edition has not yet been announced.
Organization
Starting in 2026, the event is organized by the Pêche d'Armor association, based in Pordic, which serves as the event arm of the Côtes-d'Armor Departmental Committee for Maritime Fisheries and Marine Farming. The festival attracts between 50,000 and 70,000 visitors each year.
The Bay's Scallops
Since 1970, scallop fishing has been strictly regulated and monitored in the Côtes-d'Armor region. It takes place from October to April, using either dredges or diving. In December 2022, the dredge fishery in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc became the first scallop fishery in France to receive MSC certification.
