The Fête de la Musique in Meudon: Summer in music in the heart of the forest

Meudon, a town of 45,000 inhabitants in the Hauts-de-Seine department, nestled between the forests of Meudon and Vélizy, celebrates the Fête de la Musique every June 21st in an exceptional natural setting. The town annually combines summer festivities with music celebrations for a festive day and evening in the heart of its green spaces.

Parc du Tronchet: The festival's main stage

Parc du Tronchet, an emblematic green space in Meudon, is the beating heart of the local Fête de la Musique. Every year, this tree-lined park hosts a full program from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., combining open-air concerts, DJ sets, activities, and themed villages.

The four themed villages

The Fête de l'Été et de la Musique in Meudon innovates by offering four themed villages that coexist with the music:

  • Sensations Village: inflatable structures, sports tournaments
  • Playful Village: construction games, water circuit, board games
  • Creative Village: craft workshops, mask making, modeling, coloring, upcycling
  • Zen Nature Village: potting workshop, herbal teas, etegami, birdhouse competition

This village organization allows families to find activities for all ages while enjoying the concerts.

The open music stage

The open music stage at Parc du Tronchet hosts live concerts from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., allowing musicians from the town and local associations to express themselves. This inclusive format reflects the founding spirit of the Fête de la Musique: enabling all musicians, amateurs and professionals alike, to perform in public.

Blue Jazzmin and bebop jazz

One of the most anticipated musical events of the Meudon evening is the concert by Blue Jazzmin, a band specializing in bebop jazz, bossa nova, and swing. This group, rooted in the great tradition of acoustic jazz, offers the audience a musical journey between Paris and Rio, with an elegant repertoire accessible to all tastes.

The Meudon-Sèvres Conservatories

The concert by La Belle Harmonie from the Meudon-Sèvres conservatories is one of the most anticipated moments of the evening. This wind and percussion ensemble, bringing together students from the conservatories of both towns, performs a varied repertoire ranging from classical to popular music, in a friendly and festive atmosphere.

Jam sessions and rock covers

The Fête de la Musique in Meudon also hosts jam sessions in the early afternoon, allowing musicians of all levels to play together in a spirit of camaraderie and improvisation. In the evening, rock cover bands like Highways or the Eclectic Orchestra perform classic rock hits in energetic and engaging sets.

The districts of Meudon come alive

The Fête de la Musique is not limited to Parc du Tronchet: the various districts of Meudon (Meudon-la-Forêt, Bellevue, Val Fleury) also host concerts and activities in cafes, associations, and public spaces, bringing music to the furthest corners of the forest commune.
