About Fête de la Musique in Metz
Every June 21, Metz celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, music schools, and professional artists play for free in the squares and streets of the city center. Organized by the Ville de Metz, the day is entirely free, true to the original spirit of the festival, and open to all styles.
The Fête de la Musique in Metz
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Metz into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from the afternoon until late at night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A festival in the heart of the city
Each year, the Ville de Metz provides several stages for musicians in the heart of the city. For the 2026 edition, three large stage areas are planned: the cathedral sector (Place d'Armes), the Place de la République, and the Jardin de l'Esplanade. In addition to these official stages, there are numerous initiatives from bars, associations, music schools, and shops, which make the streets of Metz vibrate throughout the evening.
