Fête de la Saint-Vincent de Châteaumeillant

Châteaumeillant, a wine-growing town renowned for its AOC grey and red wines, annually celebrates Saint Vincent, the patron saint of winemakers, on the Sunday closest to January 22nd, the official date of the saint's feast day.

This traditional celebration begins with a costumed parade through the town streets, with Saint Vincent's bouquets leading the procession. Confraternities and winemakers then gather at the church for a religious ceremony accompanied by the procession of the statue to the sound of traditional music.

After a brief speech by the mayor and a moment of reflection with the winemakers, the day continues with the grand Saint-Vincent meal, a convivial moment par excellence where the wine community gathers around local products. The afternoon is enlivened by balls and entertainment in the town hall.
