Meudon in celebration: a city between the Seine and the forest
Perched on the heights overlooking the Seine valley, Meudon (92190) benefits from an exceptional natural and heritage setting. The city is known for its Meudon State Forest, its Belle Époque villas, its prestigious Meudon Observatory, and its strong connection to crafts and arts, from Rodin to contemporary artists who reside there. It is in this unique setting that the Fête de Meudon, a major popular celebration organized by the municipality, takes place each year.
The Summer Festival at Parc du Tronchet
Meudon's main annual festive event is the Fête de l'Été (Summer Festival), held at the Parc du Tronchet. This vast landscaped park in the heart of the city is the ideal setting to welcome families and children in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Organized every year in June, the Fête de l'Été offers a rich program centered around several thematic villages.
Thematic Villages
- Sensations Village: inflatable structures, team sports tournaments, team games
- Activities Village: giant construction games, water circuits, outdoor board games
- Creative Village: plastic arts workshops, mask making, modeling, coloring, upcycling
- Zen Nature Village: repotting workshop, herbal tea tasting, etegami (Japanese postcard art), birdhouse competition
An open stage hosts amateur musicians and local bands from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a DJ set in the evening to extend the celebration until 11 p.m.
The Funfair at the Observatory
Another major festive event in Meudon is the funfair, set up every spring on the terrace of the Meudon Observatory. This exceptional site, one of the few astronomical observatories still in operation in the Île-de-France region, offers a striking panorama of Paris and the Seine valley. More than thirty attractions are featured – roller coasters, bumper cars, slides, duck fishing, shooting games, carousels for the youngest – in a traditional funfair atmosphere. The event concludes with a grand fireworks display fired from the terrace, visible for miles around.
Meudon's Cultural Season
Beyond the popular festivals, Meudon offers a dense 2025-2026 cultural season each year, combining live performances, exhibitions, and heritage events. The city hosts artist residencies and events at the Théâtre de Meudon, a modern and well-equipped performance venue. The popular festivals are part of this broader cultural dynamic that makes Meudon a particularly vibrant city in the Hauts-de-Seine region.
Meudon, a city of heritage
The heritage dimension enhances the attractiveness of Meudon's festive events. The Heritage Days each year allow visits to spaces usually closed to the public, such as the interior of the Observatory or the gardens of the grand Belle Époque properties. Meudon is also home to the Rodin workshop-museum in Bellevue, which organizes evening events during the festivals.
