The Fête de Nanterre: The National Holiday along the Seine

Every July 13, the city of Nanterre celebrates the National Holiday with a festive and popular evening featuring sports activities, concerts, a popular ball, and fireworks. Spread across several emblematic sites in the city, this republican celebration brings together thousands of residents in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

La Plage de Nanterre: The Big Summer Event

The Plage de Nanterre, a leisure area along the Seine popular with families, is one of the central sites for the National Holiday in Nanterre. Festivities begin at 12 p.m. with the opening of the beach and sports activities for children throughout the afternoon. A concert livens up the evening starting at 6:30 p.m. before the grand fireworks display at 11 p.m. that lights up the sky over the Seine.

The presence of a DJ set from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. maintains the festive atmosphere while awaiting the fireworks, which are the highlight of the evening.

Le Kiosque de l'Orangerie: The Neighborhood Party

For those who prefer a more intimate and traditional atmosphere, the National Holiday in Nanterre also takes place at the Kiosque de l'Orangerie. Starting at 7:30 p.m., a festive and friendly evening offers:

  • Fairground games for young and old
  • Popular ball for dancing into the evening
  • Concert by the group YOE
  • Torchlight procession at 10 p.m.
  • Fireworks display in the Parc de l'Orangerie starting at 11 p.m.

Nanterre: A City with a Strong Republican Tradition

Nanterre is a city marked by its working-class, university, and political history. Birthplace of the May 1968 movement with its Paris-Nanterre university, a city in the red suburbs that has known how to renew and transform itself, Nanterre celebrates the National Holiday with a republican sincerity that shines through in each edition. Fireworks light up a city that continues to be built, between the skyscrapers of La Défense at its gates and popular neighborhoods with a strong identity.

Nanterre's Festive Life Throughout the Year

The National Holiday is part of a rich festive calendar: the street festival Parade(s) in June, the Fête de la Musique on June 21, the Fête de l'Engagement in September, and the numerous neighborhood parties that punctuate the calendar. Nanterre is a city that knows how to party, and the National Holiday is its most symbolic expression.
