Évry-Courcouronnes, prefecture of Essonne and a new town with remarkable contemporary architectural heritage, celebrates the National Holiday each year over two days with an ambitious program that reflects the cultural vibrancy of this town of 64,000 inhabitants.
Saturday, July 13th, opens with an impressive republican parade on the Boulevard des Coquibus. Starting at 4 PM, a vehicle parade is followed at 5 PM by a solemn ceremony at the Place des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen, with the passage of foot and motorized troops. This civic and military parade recalls the deep meaning of the national commemoration.
In the evening, starting at 7 PM, the traditional Firefighters' Ball is held at the Square Jean-Paul II, in the Clos de la Cathédrale. Animated until midnight, this festive evening organized by the brave firefighters of Évry is a moment of conviviality and recognition for the women and men who protect the city daily.
The next day, July 14th, festivities continue at the magnificent Parc de la Dame du Lac, one of the most beautiful green spaces in Évry-Courcouronnes. From 8 PM, the park opens its doors with entertainment and food stalls, allowing everyone to gather in a festive atmosphere by the lake. The highlight of the evening remains the fireworks at 11 PM, which illuminate the lake and its reflections in a pyrotechnic spectacle of striking beauty.
