About Fête du Boukan

Born in 2024 in La Villedieu-du-Clain on the initiative of the Boukan du Clain association, Fête du Boukan is a friendly and solidarity-based music festival rooted in a rural setting. Every late summer, the village's multi-purpose hall hosts an eclectic program mixing rock, French chanson, punk, metal, dub, and electronic music. Entry is participatory: each festival-goer brings a food donation or hygiene products for the benefit of the Court'échelle social grocery store. This generous and inclusive format, combined with a human-sized capacity, creates a rare closeness between artists and the public.

Fête du Boukan: When Music Rhymes with Solidarity

Created in 2024 by the Boukan du Clain association, Fête du Boukan is a human-scale music festival that takes over the salle polyvalente of La Villedieu-du-Clain every late summer. This peaceful commune in the Vienne region is located about twenty kilometers south of Poitiers. From its very first edition, the event has established a strong identity: a bold and eclectic program, a warm atmosphere, and a commitment to solidarity that sets it apart in the festival landscape of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

A Bold and Pluralistic Program

Fête du Boukan stands out with a lineup that blurs the lines between musical genres. From swing chanson to stoner metal, from garage punk to dub, including intimate French chanson and hip-hop, each edition crafts a surprising and coherent sonic journey. The first edition in 2024 featured Greg Bo Duo (swing chanson), Seconde Zone (punk/hip-hop), Psychiderm (metal/stoner), and Drum Prod (dub/dnb DJ set). The second edition in 2025 expanded the spectrum with Madam (raw and powerful rock), Sylvain Bossa (French chanson with electronic textures), Skivers (energetic garage punk), and Simon's Riddim Dub And Friends (immersive dub session). This eclectic programming highlights artists with unique universes, brought together for an evening celebrating musical diversity and discovery.

A Solidarity and Participatory Model

The originality of Fête du Boukan lies in its participatory and solidarity-based entry system. Instead of a traditional ticket, each spectator is invited to bring a non-perishable food donation or a hygiene product for the benefit of the Court'échelle social grocery store, a local structure that helps people in need. This simple gesture transforms the evening into an act of collective generosity, anchoring the festival in a civic and humanist approach. Drinks and food are available on-site, in a relaxed and fraternal atmosphere.

A Precious Rural Connection

Organized with a controlled capacity, Fête du Boukan offers what few festivals can claim: an authentic closeness between musicians and the public. Within the multi-purpose hall of La Villedieu-du-Clain, accessible to people with reduced mobility, artists perform just a few meters from the spectators, fostering listening, exchange, and encounter. This human-scale festival is a true cultural engine for this village of 1,500 inhabitants, proving that rurality is not a barrier to artistic ambition but fertile ground for warm and unifying events.

Fête du Boukan — edition 2026

The 3rd edition of Fête du Boukan returns to the multi-purpose hall of La Villedieu-du-Clain in late August 2026. Program and artists to be announced. Participatory entry for the benefit of the Court'échelle social grocery store.

2026 Edition — 3rd Fête du Boukan

Fête du Boukan returns for its third edition on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the multi-purpose hall of La Villedieu-du-Clain. Following the success of the first two editions, the festival continues its mission to energize the rural Poitou region with an eclectic and bold program. The evening promises once again to bring together artists with unique universes in a friendly and solidarity-driven atmosphere. Entry remains participatory with a food or hygiene donation for the benefit of the Court'échelle social grocery store. Full program to be announced on the festival's Facebook page.
