National Day in Montmagny, a popular town in the south of Val-d'Oise
Montmagny (95360) is a town in the south of Val-d'Oise, neighboring Deuil-la-Barre and a few kilometers from Paris. The town is served by RER C, with a station shared with Deuil-la-Barre, making it a well-connected residential town to the capital. With its approximately 6,000 inhabitants, Montmagny is a small town that retains a strong popular identity and a dynamic associative fabric.
Although modest in size, Montmagny has several green spaces and sports and cultural facilities that allow the town to organize events for its inhabitants. The National Day on July 14th is one of the highlights of the municipal calendar.
The July 14th fireworks display is the highlight of the National Day in Montmagny. Fired from the town's green spaces, this pyrotechnic show brings residents together in a festive and warm atmosphere. In this human-sized town, the July 14th fireworks display has a sense of proximity and conviviality that large cities cannot offer: residents know each other, meet with pleasure, and share this moment of national celebration in a neighborhood spirit.
Families settle in early in the green spaces, picnicking and enjoying the mild summer evening before the night show. Children run on the lawns, adults chat. This is the human and popular face of the national celebration that Montmagny perpetuates every July 14th.
The day of July 14th in Montmagny is marked by popular entertainment that mobilizes local associations. The sports association, the cultural club, the veterans' association, the parent-teacher association: all contribute to the animation of this national day. Food stalls, children's games, and sports activities allow residents to spend the entire day celebrating.
The torchlight procession is a solemn and popular moment at the same time. This night parade, carrying lanterns and candles, crosses the streets of Montmagny in an atmosphere of republican fervor. Children, who have often made their lanterns in advance, participate with pride in this national ritual.
The popular ball that follows the fireworks display is an opportunity to extend the celebration joyfully. In this popular town, the July 14th ball is a well-alive tradition that brings together young and old on the dance floor.
The Fête Nationale de Montmagny is above all a popular and solidarity-based celebration. The municipality ensures that the July 14th festivities are entirely free and accessible to all residents, regardless of their financial situation. This accessibility is a priority in a town where solidarity between neighbors is a cardinal value.
The City of Montmagny (95360) celebrates the National Day by organizing its popular ball and fireworks display every year. As in previous editions (2024, 2025), the festivities take place on the evening of July 13th, the eve of July 14th, at Stade Grimaud, 21 rue Pelletier.
The traditional program offers a popular ball in the evening (live band concert around 9 PM) followed by a fireworks display launched around 11 PM. Access is free and open to all.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (guest band, precise timings) had not yet been published by the City as of the verification date. Information available from the Montmagny Town Hall (villedemontmagny.fr).
