Three days of free concerts in the heart of Vénissieux
Since 1999, Fêtes Escales has illuminated the summer evenings of Vénissieux. Created as a popular festival centered around the French National Day on July 14th, the event has established itself over the years as one of the major cultural events in the Lyon metropolitan area, attracting over 10,000 festival-goers each year in the heart of Parc Louis-Dupic.
Organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Vénissieux, Fêtes Escales has, since its inception, championed the values of sharing, conviviality, and diversity that characterize this dynamic and diverse city in the southern suburbs of Lyon.
Each edition offers an ambitious and eclectic program that reflects the cultural diversity of Vénissieux and its population. Hip-hop, rap, and soul sit alongside world music, Afro-Latin sounds, reggae, and musical discoveries. The festival showcases both nationally renowned artists and emerging local talents, in a spirit of discovery and sharing.
Entirely free, Fêtes Escales is for all audiences. The festival offers evening concerts as well as daytime activities, workshops for children, concerts for young audiences, and the traditional July 14th republican picnic. This family-friendly and multi-generational dimension is one of the festival's strengths, uniting residents from all neighborhoods of Vénissieux.
Located behind the town hall, Parc Louis-Dupic offers a green and welcoming setting for the festival's concerts and activities. Its large trees and open spaces make it an ideal place to enjoy live music in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The festival is committed to an eco-responsible and supportive approach, in line with the city's sustainable development policy.
The 28th edition of the Fêtes Escales festival will take place on July 11, 12 and 14, 2026, in the heart of Louis-Dupic Park, in Vénissieux, behind the Hôtel de Ville. Free and open to all, this summer event combines rap and hip-hop, world music, and a festive day around July 14, with food trucks and associative refreshment stands on site.
