Classical music and jazz in the setting of the Abbaye de Corbigny
Since 1993, the Fêtes Musicales de Corbigny have brought music lovers together at the Abbaye de Corbigny, in the heart of the Morvan. Directed by violinist Nicolas Dautricourt since 2015, this festival offers five evenings of chamber music blending the great classical repertoire and contemporary creation. Accessible prices and an intimate atmosphere in an exceptional heritage site.
Every summer in August, the Abbaye de Corbigny is transformed into a musical setting for the Fêtes Musicales de Corbigny, one of the most renowned classical music festivals in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. For over thirty years, this festival has offered a demanding program of chamber music in a remarkable architectural setting.
The Abbaye de Corbigny, a historic monument nestled in the heart of the Morvan, offers an ideal acoustic and aesthetic setting for chamber music. The church of Montreuillon, another concert venue for the festival, complements this musical geography by offering an intimate and warm setting. These heritage sites give the concerts a unique atmosphere, where music resonates in spaces steeped in history.
Since 2015, violinist Nicolas Dautricourt, a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, has been the artistic director of the festival. Under his leadership, the Fêtes Musicales de Corbigny have strengthened their identity: blending the great repertoire with contemporary creation, crossing eras and genres, while offering a stage to promising young performers alongside established musicians.
The festival unfolds over five evenings, each built around an original thematic program. Works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel are featured alongside contemporary pieces and musical discoveries, in various formations: duo, trio, quartet, quintet, and beyond. Each evening is an invitation to a musical journey, punctuated by surprises and moments of grace.
The Fêtes Musicales de Corbigny cultivate accessibility: the full price is €20, with a reduced price of €10 for students, job seekers, and people with disabilities. Admission is free for children under 12 and students of music schools in the Nièvre region. This pricing policy, combined with the festival's warm atmosphere, helps to democratize access to classical music in rural areas.
The 34th edition of the Fêtes Musicales de Corbigny will be held in August 2026 at the Abbaye de Corbigny. Under the artistic direction of Nicolas Dautricourt, the festival will offer five evenings of chamber music blending the great repertoire and contemporary creation.
