A musical journey between the square, Île de la Motte, and the Library Garden
The Fête de la Musique in Romorantin-Lanthenay takes over the emblematic sites of the capital of Sologne every June 21st. A musical route connects the Place de la Paix, the shaded Île de la Motte on the Sauldre river, and the Library Garden, offering an eclectic program mixing rock, French chanson, world music, and brass bands. Free and open to all, this festive event brings together the people of Romorantin in a friendly atmosphere.
Every June 21st, the Fête de la Musique in Romorantin-Lanthenay enlivens the streets and squares of the capital of Sologne. Since its first editions in the 1980s, the event has become a must-attend date in the Romorantin festive calendar, uniting amateur and professional musicians in a spirit of sharing and conviviality.
The Fête de la Musique in Romorantin is organized around a musical route connecting three emblematic sites of the city:
The City of Romorantin-Lanthenay launches a call for musicians each year to build the Fête de la Musique program. Rock bands, French chanson ensembles, jazz groups, brass bands, choirs, and solo musicians: all styles are welcome, reflecting the diversity of musical practices in the area.
The program generously mixes genres:
The Fête de la Musique in Romorantin-Lanthenay is part of the cultural season organized by the City, which also includes the Île de la Motte summer events (Anim'à l'Île), shows at La Pyramide, and events from the Music Conservatory. This free event helps make Romorantin a city where culture is accessible to all, in the heart of Sologne.
The Fête de la Musique is held every year on June 21st, from late afternoon to late evening. Precise times and the detailed program per stage are communicated on the City of Romorantin-Lanthenay website a few weeks before the event. Concerts follow one another without interruption on the three sites.
Free admission on all sites. No ticketing, no reservation required.
Food and drink stalls are set up on the main sites, particularly on the Place de la Paix and near the Île de la Motte. Restaurants and bars in the city center also participate in the festival with open terraces and special offers for the evening.
The City provides drinking water stations at the various locations of the musical route. In case of heatwave or high temperatures, some concerts planned in exposed areas are moved to the shade of the trees on the Île de la Motte. It is recommended to bring water, a hat, and sunscreen.
Each year, the City of Romorantin-Lanthenay publishes a call for musicians to participate in the program. Bands and artists wishing to perform can contact the cultural department of the town hall.
The main sites of the Fête de la Musique are accessible to people with reduced mobility. The Île de la Motte has practicable paths. Volunteers are present to assist people with disabilities.
