A centuries-old tradition in the Saint-Michel district
The Foire Saint-Michel de Guingamp is one of the oldest and most popular events in the town. Rooted in the tradition of the Saint-Michel fairs (September 29th), it is held every year in October in the Saint-Michel district of Guingamp. This fair perpetuates a centuries-old custom that once marked the end of harvests and the renewal of agricultural leases, an opportunity for farmers and artisans from the region to meet, trade, and exchange.
Over 300 exhibitors over two days
The Foire Saint-Michel today brings together over 300 exhibitors over two days. The Saint-Michel district street sale and the flea market on rue des Ponts-Saint-Michel attract thousands of visitors looking for bargains and rare items. The offering is varied and rich: antique furniture and objects from the 19th century to the present day, musical instruments, vinyl records, wooden toys, postcards, stamps, coins, and curiosities of all kinds.
A highlight of Guingamp life
Beyond the flea market, the Foire Saint-Michel is a moment of conviviality and social life in the town of Guingamp. Musical entertainment, particularly with Breton pipers playing bombarde, biniou, and more, accompanies the fair and adds a festive touch to the event. Local shopkeepers actively participate in the festivities, making this fair a true highlight of Guingamp's autumn calendar.
