Created in 1431, the Foires d'Orval are a major historical event celebrating their 500th edition in 2025. For nearly six centuries, this fair has been held on the 3rd Monday of October and lasts for 9 days, perpetuating a commercial and festive tradition rooted in the identity of Saint-Amand-Montrond.
A popular and festive event
The Foires d'Orval transform Saint-Amand-Montrond into a gigantic party space. Visitors can stroll through the streets, wander during the traditional grand unpacking, attend concerts, taste local products or enjoy cotton candy. Monday, the beating heart of the event, welcomes hundreds of stallholders and travelling merchants.
Fairground rides and Ferris wheel
Fairground rides are set up in several squares in the town: Place de la République, Place Jean-Girault, Cours Manuel and Cours Fleurus. For the 2025 edition, a 25-meter Ferris wheel will be installed on Place Jean-Girault, offering a panoramic view of the town and the festivities.
Foires d'Orval — edition 2026
The Foires d'Orval 2026 will be held from October 17 to 25, 2026 in Saint-Amand-Montrond, with the traditional Grand Fair in the city center on Monday, October 19 (3rd Monday of October). Nine days of festivities combining a large street market, a funfair, a parade, a cycling race, and an agricultural competition.
Foires d'Orval 2026 Edition
After celebrating its 500th anniversary in 2025, the Foires d'Orval continue in 2026 a tradition born in 1431. The event unfolds over nine days, from October 17 to 25, in the city center of Saint-Amand-Montrond.
The highlight remains the Grand Fair on Monday, October 19, which brings together hundreds of merchants and hawkers spread across several squares and streets of the city. The week is punctuated by a large funfair with its rides, as well as a parade, a cycling race, and an agricultural competition.
Two street market events frame the Grand Fair: the "1st Sunday of the Fair" on Sunday, October 18 (rue Nationale and Porte Mutin) and the "Return of the Fair" on Sunday, October 25, from 8 AM to 6 PM, rue de la Porte Mutin.
