The sculpted village of Masgot transforms for Halloween
Each year at the end of October, the village of Masgot in the commune of Franseches transforms to host Masgot Hante. This unique event in Creuse blends heritage and Halloween in an exceptional setting: that of the village with sculptures by Francois Michaud, a 19th-century stonemason whose works adorn the facades of the houses.
During the weekend, visitors discover a route decorated with spiderwebs, tombstones, and sound effects. More than ten activities are offered: street performances, creative workshops, storytelling, and night walks. Volunteers, dressed as vampires, witches, and fantastic creatures, liven up the village alleys for the delight of young and old alike.
Organized by the association Les Amis de la Pierre de Masgot, the event relies on the commitment of dozens of volunteers who set up decorations and run the activities. Masgot Hante has become a must-attend event for All Saints' Day in Creuse, contributing to the influence of this unique heritage village.
The 12th edition of Masgot Hante will be held at the end of October 2026 in the village of Masgot in Franseches. The program and schedule will be announced by the association Les Amis de la Pierre de Masgot on the official website and social media.
