Grain d'Automne

Culture in rural areas

Grain d'Automne was a multidisciplinary festival that enriched the rural communes of Pays de Bergerac from September to November. Supported by the Conseil départemental de la Dordogne, it pursued an ambitious goal: to develop cultural projects in rural territories and to animate the Bergeracois outside the summer season.

An eclectic program

The program blended theatre, music, visual arts, storytelling, and world music. Performances were held in various locations — village halls, churches, village squares, and natural spaces — creating unique encounters between artists and rural audiences.

Exchanges and openness

The festival fostered discovery, encounters, and intercultural exchanges, notably through partnerships with international artists and cultural structures (for example, a cultural twinning with the city of Ovidiu in Romania). It contributed to weaving a network of cultural actors in the Bergeracois around a shared artistic project.

The end of the adventure

The 7th edition was held from September 7 to October 28, 2012, and the 8th until November 3, 2013. Beyond this date, no public source documents any subsequent edition. Departmental cultural action in Dordogne is now carried out by the Agence culturelle départementale Dordogne-Périgord through other seasons (En scène, De visu, Paratge), without resuming the Grain d'Automne label.
