A unique festival dedicated to the guitar
Guitares en Morvan is a festival held every summer in Saint-Germain-de-Modéon, a small village in Côte-d'Or nestled in the heart of the Parc naturel régional du Morvan. Born from the passion of the Morvan Guitares workshop, an artisanal lutherie located at 4 chemin des Champs Poiret, this festival celebrates the guitar in all its forms: classical, folk, pop-rock, chamber music. It brings together luthiers, musicians, and enthusiasts around a universal instrument.
Lutherie show and historical exhibition
The highlight of the festival is the lutherie show, held in the village hall. Luthiers from all over France exhibit and present their instruments—classical, acoustic, and electric guitars—as well as accessories and instrumental curiosities. The exhibition "La Guitare au fil du temps" (The Guitar Through Time), from the collection of Jean Perdreau, traces the history of the instrument through the centuries, offering a fascinating journey into musical heritage.
Concerts in the church and outdoors
Guitares en Morvan offers a series of free concerts spread over several weekends, from mid-July to early August. Musicians perform in the exceptional acoustic setting of the church of Saint-Germain-de-Modéon and outdoors. The program mixes classical guitar, pop-rock, chamber music, and solo performances, featuring artists such as Olivier Mesnier and the Mark Peirelinck Quartet.
