When Avenue de Champagne lights up to celebrate the Champagne art of living
Habits de Lumière is a festive and free event that takes place every year in December on Avenue de Champagne in Épernay. Created in 2000 to celebrate the turn of the millennium, this three-day festival attracts over 50,000 visitors with spectacular illuminations, video mappings, champagne bars, musical entertainment, and fireworks. The Habits de Saveurs highlight gastronomy with Michelin-starred chefs, while a parade of vintage cars brings together over 400 collector vehicles.
Created in 2000 by the City of Épernay in partnership with the Comité de l'Avenue de Champagne, Habits de Lumière has become in a few years the flagship event of the end of the year in Champagne. For three days in December, the Avenue de Champagne, a UNESCO World Heritage site, adorns itself with its most beautiful luminous attire to celebrate the Champagne art of living. The 2025 edition will mark the 25th anniversary of the event, coinciding with the centenary of Avenue de Champagne.
The evenings of Friday and Saturday are dedicated to the spectacular illuminations of Avenue de Champagne. Video mappings projected on the facades of prestigious Champagne Houses, light installations, musical shows, and fireworks create a magical and festive atmosphere. Champagne bars set up along the avenue allow visitors to taste the vintages of the great Houses while enjoying the show.
On Saturday morning, Les Habits de Saveurs brings together Michelin-starred chefs who collaborate with winegrowers and producers from Avenue de Champagne and the local terroir to create original recipes during demonstrations-tastings open to all. This gastronomic event highlights the culinary excellence of the region and the perfect pairing of champagne and gastronomy.
On Sunday, a parade of vintage cars enlivens the streets of Épernay, bringing together over 400 collector cars. This automotive event has become one of the largest gatherings of vintage vehicles in northeastern France, attracting enthusiasts from all over the region and beyond.
The 26th edition of Habits de Lumière will once again illuminate the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay for three days of winter festivities.
