The major psytrance culture festival in France
Created in 2005 by the Hadra association, Hadra Trance Festival is the largest psychedelic trance music festival in France and one of the most important in Europe. Located since 2016 on the banks of the Vieure lake in the Allier region, it brings together nearly 10,000 festival-goers each summer for four days of uninterrupted music on four stages. A non-profit association festival, it stands out for its ecological commitment, its community dimension, and the quality of its international programming.
Hadra Trance Festival is a unique event in the French festival landscape. Born in 2005 in Chorges (Hautes-Alpes), it is the result of the commitment of the Hadra association, founded in Grenoble in 2001 by a group of electronic music enthusiasts, particularly psychedelic trance. The name "Hadra" refers to the collective trance ceremonies of Moroccan Sufis, evoking the spiritual and community dimension that characterizes the festival.
The festival has been held in several locations over the years. After its first editions in Chorges (Hautes-Alpes) from 2005 to 2007, it moved to Pontcharra (Isère) in 2008-2009, then to the Vercors massif from 2010 to 2014, near Lans-en-Vercors. Since 2016, Hadra Trance Festival has found its home at the Vieure lake, in the Bourbonnais countryside of the Allier region. This 25-hectare site, on the edge of a lake, offers an exceptional natural setting to welcome around 10,000 festival-goers.
The programming of Hadra Trance Festival unfolds across four complementary stages, offering a complete panorama of psychedelic and electronic music:
More than 150 international artists perform at each edition, for 72 hours of uninterrupted music.
Hadra Trance Festival stands out as one of the few major international psytrance festivals operating as a non-profit association. All festival revenues are reinvested in the projects of the Hadra association, which works throughout the year to promote psytrance culture through events, music productions, and cultural actions.
The festival upholds strong values of ecology and environmental responsibility. Concrete actions are implemented: waste management, dry toilets, eco-cups, public awareness, and preservation of the natural site. Hadra Trance Festival also promotes risk reduction related to festival practices, in partnership with specialized associations.
Beyond the music, Hadra Trance Festival is a place for meeting and sharing. The associative village offers spaces for exchange, artistic workshops, conferences, screenings, and visual performances. Digital arts and visual installations play an important role in the festival's identity, transforming the site into an immersive work of art, particularly spectacular at night.
The festival attracts an international audience each year, from all over Europe and beyond, united by a common passion for psychedelic music and trance culture.
The 17th edition of Hadra Trance Festival will take place from August 27 to 30, 2026, at the Vieure lake in the Allier region. A new era begins for the festival, with a new theme and international lineup to be unveiled during 2026.
