Since 1987, the International Festival of Dances and World Music of Issoire — initially named "International Folklore Festival of Issoire" (FIFI), then FIDEMM — has been the unmissable event for traditional arts and international folklore in the Puy-de-Dôme. Created on the initiative of Fernand Neves and members of Folklore Issoirien, this free festival aims to explore the richness and diversity of world music and dances.
FIDEMM is a member of the CIOFF France network (International Council of Folklore and Traditional Arts Festivals), itself an official partner of UNESCO. This international recognition attests to the artistic quality of the festival and its commitment to the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of global intangible cultural heritage.
For a week, in July, dance and music groups from all continents take over the city of Issoire to offer:
True to its mission of cultural accessibility, FIDEMM is completely free. All shows, parades, concerts, and workshops are free to access, allowing all audiences to discover the richness of world cultures. With over 35 editions to its name, the festival has become a major summer event in Issoire and a vector of international influence for the city.
The Issoire International Dances and World Music Festival returns for its 38th edition during the 3rd week of July 2026. For a week, dance and music groups from all over the world will liven up the streets and squares of Issoire with parades, concerts, dance workshops, and open-air shows. On its stages and various sites, the festival annually offers a grand procession, shows, and concerts bringing together several hundred international artists. The festival is entirely free.
