Over thirty years of jazz in Burgundy

Nestled in the heart of the Burgundy wine region, between Beaune and Le Creusot, the medieval village of Couches has hosted a jazz and blues festival since 1987 that has stood the test of time without losing its soul. From its very first editions, critic Jacques Réda praised in Jazz Magazine "a rhythm of life where efficiency gives way to relaxation" — a philosophy that remains unchanged.

An excellent program

The Jazz à Couches program combines international artists and young talents in a musical spectrum ranging from contemporary jazz to blues, including swing, soul, and fusion. Under the marquee at Stade Henri Levite, the evening concerts offer rare proximity to the musicians. On Saturday afternoons, Jazz à du Goût offers a concert-and-tasting event at the Prieuré Saint-Georges, a happy marriage of music and local gastronomy.

The OFF in the heart of the village

In addition to the evening concerts under the marquee, the OFF takes over the Place de la République with free open-air concerts. This is where the festival takes on its full popular dimension: musicians play a few meters from the audience, in a relaxed atmosphere where locals, tourists, and jazz enthusiasts mingle. The Big Band de Couches, an emblematic local band, closes the festival each year.

A family-friendly and accessible festival

Jazz à Couches remains true to its original spirit: an accessible festival, with moderate prices (€10 to €30) and free admission for under 15s. Parking is free, local food is served from 7 PM, and the warm atmosphere of this small Burgundian village does the rest. In 2025, the festival celebrates its 38th edition, a testament to the vitality of an event deeply rooted in its territory.
