Over thirty years of jazz in Burgundian land
Nestled in the heart of wine-growing Burgundy, between Beaune and Le Creusot, the medieval village of Couches has hosted a jazz and blues festival since 1987 that has spanned decades without ever losing its soul. From its very first editions, critic Jacques Réda praised in Jazz Magazine "a rhythm of life where efficiency gives way to relaxation" — a philosophy that has not changed.
An excellent program
The Jazz à Couches program combines international artists and young talents in a musical spectrum ranging from contemporary jazz to blues, including swing, soul, and fusion. Under the big top of the Zone de loisirs (Stade Henri Levite), concert evenings offer a rare proximity to the musicians. On Saturday afternoon, Jazz à du Goût offers a concert-tasting at the Prieuré Saint-Georges, a happy marriage of music and local gastronomy.
The OFF in the heart of the village
In addition to the evenings under the big top, the OFF takes over the Place de la République with free open-air concerts. This is where the festival truly embraces its popular dimension: musicians play just a few meters from the audience, in a relaxed atmosphere where locals, tourists, and jazz enthusiasts mingle. The Big Band de Couches, an emblematic local group, traditionally opens the festivities.
A family-friendly and accessible festival
Jazz à Couches remains true to its original spirit: an accessible festival, with moderate prices and free entry for children up to and including 14 years old. Parking is free, local food is served from 7 PM, and the warm atmosphere of this small Burgundian village does the rest. In 2026, the festival celebrates its 39th edition, proof of the vitality of an event deeply rooted in its territory.

39th edition of Jazz à Couches, from July 1st to 4th, 2026 in the heart of wine-growing Burgundy. On the theme « La Voix royale » (The Royal Voice), the festival honors the great voices of jazz with Marion Rampal, Sanseverino, Youn Sun Nah & Bojan Z, and Franck Tortiller. Seated concerts under a big top at the Zone de loisirs, free OFF at Place de la République, and a concert-tasting Jazz à du Goût at Prieuré Saint-Georges.
2026 Edition — 39th festival, « La Voix royale »
The 39th edition of Jazz à Couches takes place from Wednesday, July 1st to Saturday, July 4th, 2026 at the Zone de loisirs (Stade Henri Levite), in Couches. This year, the festival places the voice at the center of its program, with a lineup that brings together internationally renowned jazz singers. New for 2026: all concerts under the big top will be seated, in a redeveloped leisure area with improved facilities for the public.
The festival maintains its three-part formula: concert evenings under the big top, the free open-air OFF at Place de la République (a springboard for emerging artists), and the concert-tasting Jazz à du Goût at Prieuré Saint-Georges on Saturday afternoon.
