The Pacific on the banks of the Charente

The Journées Polynésiennes create an unexpected exotic interlude in Port-des-Barques, a small Charente port overlooking the estuary. Organized by the Comité des Fêtes de l'Estuaire, this free event invites young and old to discover the richness of Polynesian culture through crafts, water sports, and Pacific traditions.

Total cultural immersion

For two days at the end of July, the seafront transforms into a Polynesian village with traditional craft stalls, palm leaf braiding demonstrations, and Tahitian dance initiations. The outrigger canoe races attract crowds to the shore. An authentic Polynesian meal is offered by reservation, and the show by the Hei Show Tamure dance troupe provides a spectacular finale in an explosion of colors, rhythms, and traditional costumes.
