About Marcelle Tinayre Festival

Every year, the Festival Marcelle Tinayre brings together a book fair in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains dedicated to female authors and the work of Marcelle Tinayre, a novelist who lived on the island of Oléron in the early 20th century and co-founded the Prix Femina. Organized by the Femmes en Livres association, this two-day event gathers authors, illustrators, and independent publishers for book signings, panel discussions, and lectures.

Practical information

Practical information — Marcelle Tinayre Festival

Free admission. Salle polyvalente, 26 boulevard de la Plage, Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, on the island of Oléron.

The festival was born in September 2024 during the European Heritage Days, following an initial literary gathering focused on Marcelle Tinayre. The Femmes en Livres association, established in early 2025 under the presidency of Stéphanie Roumégous, has since turned it into an annual tradition. An exhibition traces the life and work of the writer using previously unseen archives and audio recordings from the INA, while the book fair hosts authors, illustrators, and independent publishers in the town's multi-purpose hall.
