The repertoire ranges from classical to jazz, including opera and flamenco.
L'Eure Poétique et Musicale is an international classical music festival that enchants the south of the Eure department each spring. Since 2008, the Association des Amis de la Musique et des Arts (AMA) has programmed about ten exceptional concerts in remarkable heritage sites: medieval churches, abbeys, concert halls, and historic residences in Tillières-sur-Avre, Verneuil-sur-Avre, Breteuil-sur-Iton, Marcilly-la-Campagne, Francheville, and Saint-Christophe-sur-Avre. The festival has gained international scope by inviting leading soloists and ensembles.
The programming of L'Eure Poétique et Musicale covers a wide musical spectrum: grand opera evenings with arias by Verdi, Bizet, and Puccini, piano recitals by internationally renowned soloists, flamenco evenings, saxophone and clarinet duets, chamber music, jazz evenings, and Neapolitan concerts. Each edition features seven to ten concerts programmed on Saturdays and Sundays from late May to late June, with late afternoon or evening times allowing full enjoyment of the exceptional acoustics of the venues.
Beyond its demanding artistic program, the festival is actively committed to musical transmission. Educational interventions in schools allow professional musicians to present their instruments to children and introduce them to classical music. The festival thus contributes to the cultural influence of the south of Eure, a rural region where classical music offerings are rare. The concerts take place in an intimate and warm atmosphere, fostering proximity between artists and the audience. The festival brochure and reservations are available on the official website festivaleure.com.
