Extreme canoe-kayak and stand-up paddle descent over 127 km of the Dordogne River
La Dordogne Intégrale is a 127-kilometer canoe-kayak and stand-up paddle race connecting Argentat-sur-Dordogne in Corrèze to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle in Dordogne. Created in 2006, this extreme one-day descent is a sporting and personal challenge for paddlers from all over France and Europe. The race crosses three departments — Corrèze, Lot, and Dordogne — and offers a unique panorama of the river landscapes, medieval villages, and castles along the Dordogne River.
Since 2024, Dordogne Intégrale has been enhanced with a multi-race format offering several events over three days. In addition to the main 130 km race, the program includes a nautical semi-marathon, a tourist rally for families and beginner paddlers, and the Hard-Roque race, a technical and demanding course. This format allows it to reach a wider audience, from experienced athletes to families seeking nautical discovery and conviviality. The weekend is also enlivened by concerts, local producers' markets, exhibitor villages, and activities for all ages, making Dordogne Intégrale a true popular festival along the water.
The main race starts in Argentat-sur-Dordogne, a charming town in Corrèze located on the banks of the Dordogne, known for its gabare heritage and shaded quays. The starting village welcomes paddlers, their companions, and the public in a festive and sporting atmosphere. Entertainment, catering, and exhibitor stands create a friendly atmosphere before the early morning start. Argentat-sur-Dordogne becomes the beating heart of the paddling community and river lovers for a weekend.
La Dordogne Intégrale is committed to an eco-responsible approach and respect for the river environment. Organizers raise participants' awareness about river preservation, waste management, and respect for flora and fauna. Refreshment points are located along the course to support paddlers throughout their effort. The event brings together a community of enthusiasts for paddle sports, nature, and personal challenges, in a spirit of solidarity and sharing. Over the years, La Dordogne Intégrale has become a must-attend event in the French canoe-kayak race calendar.
20th edition of the Dordogne Intégrale, organized on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9, 2026, by the Argentat Dordogne Canoë-Kayak club. An extreme 127 km canoe-kayak and stand-up paddle race connecting Argentat-sur-Dordogne (Corrèze) to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (Dordogne), preceded on Friday by the 21 km nautical half-marathon between Argentat and Brivezac.
The Dordogne Intégrale celebrated its 20th edition on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9, 2026, bringing together 250 participants from 12 nations (including Australia, Canada, United States, Netherlands, Estonia) on the quays of Argentat-sur-Dordogne. Organized by the Argentat Dordogne Canoë-Kayak club (CKCAB) in partnership with the Castelnaud-la-Chapelle club for the finish, and coordinated by Pieter Paauw with about thirty volunteers, this edition took place under particular hydrological conditions: the flow of the Dordogne was only 30 m³/s compared to the usual 91-93 m³/s at this time of year, but the race was still able to be held over the entire course.
Friday, May 8, was dedicated to the 21 km nautical half-marathon, starting from Argentat at 10 am towards Brivezac, with food trucks and exhibitors on the quays. On Saturday, May 9, in the morning, the start of the 127 km main race was given from Argentat to the Château de Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, open to canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddles, and pirogues, solo or in relay (2 to 9 team members). The route crosses three departments — Corrèze, Lot, and Dordogne — with relay points at Beaulieu (km 24), Carennac (km 45), and Saint-Julien-de-Lampon (km 97), and refreshment points at Puybrun (km 35), Gluges (km 60), Souillac (km 85), and Carsac-Aillac (km 105). In the evening, dinner, concert, and award ceremony under a marquee in Castelnaud.
The weekend relied on volunteers from the Argentat Dordogne Canoë-Kayak club and that of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, with a complete system of shuttles (competitor meeting point in Castelnaud on Friday, May 8 at 4 pm, return on Sunday, May 10 at 4 pm), bivouac, and assistance. For the 2027 edition, the organizers announce an ambitious project: the DI 350, a full descent of the Dordogne over 350 km from May 6 to 9, 2027.
The start is located at Argentat-sur-Dordogne, 19400 Argentat-sur-Dordogne.
