Jazz resonates in the spa town of La Vienne
The La Roche-Posay Jazz Festival livens up this charming spa town, nestled in the Creuse valley on the borders of Vienne and Indre-et-Loire, every late summer. Since its early editions, this intimate festival has forged a unique link between the art of jazz and the spa lifestyle that makes La Roche-Posay famous. Concerts take place in the Acropolya hall, the town's multi-purpose cultural space, offering excellent acoustics and modern comfort to fully enjoy every note.
The festival's program explores the entire spectrum of jazz: from vocal jazz to swing, from gypsy jazz to blues, including festive brass bands and contemporary jazz. Each edition features several evenings of concerts at 9 PM, with ensembles ranging from trios to sextets. The festival has notably hosted renowned artists from the French jazz scene, such as Daniel Huck and his trumpeter quartet in the "Trumpet Sessions," singer Gilda Solve and her "Vocal Jazz Vibrations," and New Orleans jazz bands like Sunny Street Jazz.
La Roche-Posay offers an exceptional setting for a jazz festival. This charming town, dominated by its 11th-century medieval keep, is world-famous for its thermal baths and its waters with unique dermatological properties, exploited since the 17th century. Music lovers can combine the pleasures of music with the discovery of rich heritage: the Notre-Dame church, medieval streets, the shaded thermal park, and the peaceful banks of the Creuse river. The casino, racecourse, and 18-hole golf course complete the leisure offerings of this inland resort town.
Supported by the La Roche-Posay Tourist and Thermal Office and the municipality, the festival is part of a rich cultural season that enlivens the town throughout the year: open-air concerts of "Mercredis au Donjon," shows at Acropolya, evenings at the Casino, and the Bailatino festival. The Jazz Festival thus contributes to the cultural influence of this spa town, which, despite its small size, offers a remarkable range of shows and leisure activities.
The La Roche-Posay Jazz Festival is preparing its new edition at Acropolya. The program will be announced in spring 2026 on the website of the Tourist and Thermal Office.
