Alternative music festival in the heart of the Château de la Durbelière
La Tanière du Dahu is an alternative music festival held every summer in the exceptional setting of the Château de la Durbelière, in Saint-Aubin-de-Baubigné, a delegated commune of Mauléon, in the Bocage bressuirais region of Deux-Sèvres. Created in 2020 by the association La Tanière du Dahu, this human-sized festival offers a two-day sonic journey between dub, techno, reggae, rock, jazz, and electronic music, with three stages, around twenty artists and sound systems, and a market of organic producers and local creators. Set in the moats and gardens of a historic castle—the birthplace of Henri de la Rochejaquelein during the War in the Vendée—the festival combines musical excellence, conviviality, and a rustic spirit, with free camping, food trucks, and an open-air party atmosphere that attracts some 1,500 festival-goers.
La Tanière du Dahu was born in 2020 from the desire of a group of music enthusiasts from the Bocage bressuirais to create a festive and cultural event in their rural territory. The La Tanière du Dahu association, based in Mauléon, has been carrying an ambitious project since its creation: to bring alternative music—dub, techno, reggae, rock, jazz, and electro—to life in an exceptional heritage and rural setting.
The choice of the Château de la Durbelière, in Saint-Aubin-de-Baubigné (delegated commune of Mauléon), as the festival venue is not insignificant. This historic castle, known for being the birthplace of Henri de la Rochejaquelein, a hero of the War in the Vendée, offers a majestic setting with its moats, gardens, and woods. The encounter between this centuries-old heritage and the deep bass of dub creates a unique and singular atmosphere.
The festival unfolds across three stages offering a complete panorama of alternative music. The main stage hosts the headliners of dub and reggae: over the years, the festival has featured genre references such as Stand High Patrol with Marina P, High Tone, Wicked Steppa Sound System, I-Tist, and Kandee. The secondary stages explore the territories of techno, alternative rock, and jazz, with DJ sets and instrumental projects that extend the sonic journey into the heart of the night.
The programming mixes renowned artists from the French and international dub scene with local discoveries, in a spirit of sharing and musical curiosity.
La Tanière du Dahu cultivates a rustic festival spirit that distinguishes it from large urban festivals. The market of organic producers and local creators, with over 50 exhibitors, is at the heart of the experience: farm products, crafts, clothing, and accessories created by artisans from the Bocage. Food trucks offer varied and local catering.
Free camping—open to tents, vehicles, and campervans—allows festival-goers to fully experience the festival over two days. Games and activities are offered in the camping area to extend the conviviality between concerts.
With around 1,500 festival-goers per edition, La Tanière du Dahu maintains a scale that encourages encounters, proximity to artists, and a family atmosphere. Minors must be accompanied, ensuring a serene environment for everyone. It is this human dimension, combined with the quality of the programming and the beauty of the location, that makes La Tanière du Dahu an unmissable event for alternative music lovers in the Grand Ouest region.
6th edition of the La Tanière du Dahu festival planned for summer 2026 at the Château de la Durbelière in Mauléon. The dub, techno, and reggae festival of the Bocage bressuirais will return with three stages and a market of organic producers.
