The summer festival of Quai CDN with shows, concerts, and performances in Angers
Quai l'Été is the summer festival of Quai CDN Angers Pays de la Loire. Launched in 2020 on the initiative of Thomas Jolly, this event offers theater shows, concerts, and performances every summer in a Quai transformed for the occasion. The logistics courtyard hosts a bar with a terrace and an outdoor stage, while the usual venues and many locations in the department are used. From July to the end of August, over 100 performances spread across Maine-et-Loire with artists from the region.
Born in 2020 on the initiative of Thomas Jolly, then director of Quai CDN, Quai l'Été is an unprecedented summer event in Angers. While theaters traditionally close their doors during the summer, Quai has taken the opposite approach by opening its venues and spaces wide to offer shows, concerts, and performances during July and August.
For the occasion, the logistics courtyard of Quai is transformed into a summer living space: a bar with a terrace and an outdoor stage complement the theater's two usual venues. This original setup creates a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, conducive to artistic discoveries and encounters between artists and the public.
Quai l'Été is not limited to the theater walls. Shows spread to the municipalities of Maine-et-Loire, with performances in a dozen locations in the department. From July to the end of August, over 100 performances are offered, featuring artists primarily from the region.
The program combines theatrical creations, revivals of shows, choreographic proposals from the National Center for Contemporary Dance (CNDC), readings of unpublished texts as part of the DESC (Department of Writings for Contemporary Stage), and performances. The first edition notably featured "La nuit de Madame Lucienne" by Copi, directed by Thomas Jolly, performed 27 times with reduced capacity. Quai l'Été embodies a vision of public theater that is open and accessible, serving creation and the territory.
Quai l'Été 2026 will take over Quai CDN in Angers and the towns of Maine-et-Loire with theater shows, dance, concerts, and performances from July to the end of August. Quai will open its doors and terrace for a theatrical and festive summer.
Quai l'Été returns for a new summer edition at Quai CDN Angers Pays de la Loire. From July to the end of August 2026, the theater opens its doors to offer shows of theater, contemporary dance, concerts, and performances in a summer and convivial atmosphere.
The logistics courtyard will once again transform into a living space with a bar, terrace, and outdoor stage. Shows will spread to the towns of the department, with artistic proposals led by artists from the region and the CNDC under the direction of Noé Soulier.
