Vivonne's festive and eclectic festival
Created in 2012 by a group of friends from the Fêt'Arts association, Le Chant des Grôles is a contemporary music festival that takes place every last weekend of June in the Parc de Vounant in Vivonne, on the banks of the Clain river. In a dozen editions, this friendly and family-friendly event has become a must-attend summer gathering in Vienne, attracting nearly 2,500 festival-goers with an eclectic program mixing festive rock, French chanson, reggae, and world music.
It all began in 2012 when a handful of music-loving friends decided to create a festival in their own image: festive, eclectic, and accessible. Named Le Chant des Grôles – a nod to the crows that inhabit the banks of the Clain – the event takes place in the Parc de Vounant in Vivonne, a green setting nestled below the town. Driven by the Fêt'Arts association and an army of volunteers, the festival has steadily grown, evolving from a modest village fair to a musical event that now attracts nearly 2,500 festival-goers each year.
The hallmark of Le Chant des Grôles is its blend of styles. Over two evenings, about ten bands perform on stage, from national headliners to emerging local talents. Throughout its editions, the festival has hosted diverse artists such as La Ruda, Marcel et son Orchestre, Les Ogres de Barback, La Rue Kétanou, Oaï Star, Picon Mon Amour, and Bob's Not Dead. From festive rock to socially conscious chanson, from reggae to wild brass bands, each edition offers a wealth of discoveries and moments of shared joy.
The Parc de Vounant provides an ideal backdrop for a human-scale festival. Bordered by the river and shaded by large trees, the site allows attendees to enjoy open-air concerts in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The space is carefully arranged: a main stage, a bar serving local products, food stalls, and a relaxation area for families. Children under 14 enter for free, in line with the spirit of openness that has guided the organizers since the first edition.
Le Chant des Grôles is more than just a music festival; it's a collective project that brings the Civraisien region and the commune of Vivonne to life. Each year, dozens of volunteers mobilize to set up the stage, manage catering, handle ticketing, and welcome the public. The festival prioritizes short supply chains, local artisans, and an eco-responsible approach with reusable cups and selective sorting. This participatory and warm philosophy makes Le Chant des Grôles a unique event where music meets sharing and conviviality.
The 13th edition of Le Chant des Grôles returns to Parc de Vounant in Vivonne on June 27 and 28, 2026, with Les Ogres de Barback, La Rue Kétanou, Vanupié, Radio Byzance, and other artists to discover.
