When science takes the stage with humor and poetry
Born in 2022 from the meeting between the companies Esprit Joueur and Va Savoir, Le Curieux Festival is an event without equal in France. Its challenge: to create a dialogue between science and performing arts, by inviting artists to take on scientific questions — quantum physics, neuroscience, ecology, astronomy — to stage them with poetry, humor, and inventiveness. The result: shows that amaze as much as they make you think.
Every year in April, Le Curieux Festival unfolds its program over two weeks in about ten locations in Strasbourg and the Eurometropolis. Theater, dance, circus, music, performances, and curious encounters follow one another: the public is invited to learn, understand, laugh, and be amazed. "Curious Encounters" between artists and scientists offer rare and stimulating moments of dialogue.
Each edition includes Mini Curieux, a weekend of shows, scientific experiments, and creative workshops organized at Le Vaisseau (a scientific discovery center for children). It's the ideal opportunity to awaken the curiosity of the youngest with short, interactive formats suitable for all ages.
The festival takes over various venues that reflect its hybrid DNA: Le Vaisseau, the Planetarium of the Jardin des Sciences, the Point d'Eau in Ostwald, the PréO in Oberhausbergen, the Illiade in Illkirch, the Vox cinema, and POLE-SUD. This presence throughout the Eurometropolis territory allows it to reach diverse audiences.
In parallel with the public program, Le Curieux Festival organizes four days of professional meetings bringing together artists, scientists, programmers, and cultural mediators. These days of reflection and sharing contribute to structuring a national network around arts-science creation, making Strasbourg a laboratory for this emerging discipline.
The 5th edition will take place from April 7 to 19, 2026, with a program blending science and performing arts. On the agenda: concerts (including Planète Boum Boum), theater, dance, performances, and encounters between artists and scientists.
The festival takes place in several venues in Strasbourg and the Eurometropolis.
