Poetry throughout the department

Every March, Printemps des Poètes 64 brings the libraries and media centers of Pyrénées-Atlantiques to life with poetry. Coordinated by Biblio64, the departmental library, this event mobilizes about twenty public reading establishments, from the Basque Country to Béarn, to celebrate the power of words and the poetic art in all its forms.

A rich and varied program

Printemps des Poètes 64 offers a diverse program:

  • Poetry readings: Actors and volunteers give voice to texts by classical and contemporary poets in the department's libraries
  • Exhibitions: Visual artists, photographers, and illustrators present works related to the annual theme of the event
  • Meetings with authors: Poets and writers meet the public to share their creative universe and artistic approach
  • Writing workshops: Introductory and advanced workshops allow participants to try their hand at poetic writing
  • Performances and shows: Original productions combining poetry, music, dance, and visual arts

2026 Edition: Liberty

The theme of the 28th national edition of Printemps des Poètes is “Liberty. Living force, deployed.” Actress Isabelle Adjani is its godmother, lending her voice and commitment to poetry. In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, participating libraries will explore this theme through original local programming, from March 9 to 31, 2026.
