Argentine Tango at the Heart of Alsace

Born in 2014 from the passion of a group of Mulhouse tangueros, Le Printemps du Tango has quickly become a must-attend event on the Alsatian cultural calendar. The idea germinated around a café table: there was no tango festival in the region, so why not create one? The success was immediate, with nearly 5,000 visitors from the very first edition. Organized by the Association Le Printemps du Tango in partnership with the Mulhouse dance company Estro, the festival combines artistic excellence with a popular spirit.

Four Days of Immersion in the World of Tango

The Printemps du Tango program is designed to satisfy both seasoned dancers and curious newcomers. Milongas — tango dances — follow one another in venues as varied as Le Séchoir, Foyer Sainte-Geneviève, and La Filature, the national stage of Mulhouse. Live music concerts showcase international artists playing bandoneon, guitar, and double bass, while masterclasses allow dancers of all levels to perfect their technique with renowned masters.

The City as a Dance Floor

One of the hallmarks of Le Printemps du Tango is its ability to take over public spaces. Outdoor milongas on Place de la Réunion, mini-concerts at the Marché du Canal Couvert, free tango initiations in the bars and cafes of the city center: the festival brings tango out of the ballrooms to make it accessible to everyone. The terraces of wine bars like Le Mondrian and Le Surnaturel transform into small improvised dance floors, creating a unique atmosphere where dance blends with the daily life of the city.

A Cultural Bridge Between Argentina and Alsace

Beyond dance and music, Le Printemps du Tango celebrates the full cultural richness of Argentina. Film screenings, lectures on the history of tango, Argentine cuisine tastings, and folkloric performances complete the program. Each year, the festival invites artists from Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and all over Europe, creating a true cultural bridge between the two continents. This international openness, combined with the warm welcome of the people of Mulhouse, makes Le Printemps du Tango a unique event of its kind in the Grand Est region.
