Mulhouse vibrates to the rhythm of the bandoneon
Since 2013, Le Printemps du Tango has made Mulhouse vibrate to the rhythm of the Argentine bandoneon every June. More than a festival, it's a true immersion into the heart of tango and Argentine culture: milongas, free introductions, masterclasses, concerts, shows, gastronomy, screenings, readings, and exhibitions take over the city for four days.
Le Printemps du Tango has been organized since its creation in 2013 by the association of the same name, founded by a team of enthusiasts surrounded by some forty committed volunteers. Every year in early June, the festival transforms Mulhouse into the Alsatian capital of Argentine tango for four days.
The event brings together several disciplines around tango: dance (milongas, masterclasses, introductions), live music (contemporary and traditional tango concerts), performing arts (choreographic creations), literature (readings, meetings), documentary cinema, and Argentine gastronomy. About forty established and emerging artists are invited each edition, hosted in venues that are both heritage sites and unusual: Foyer Sainte-Geneviève, La Filature, Temple Saint-Étienne, Place de la Réunion, Marché couvert, Motoco, Les Petites Cantines.
Le Printemps du Tango is also associated with a cross-border program on the German side, via the KOKI organization, which extends the tango experience into the Three Borders region.
