Born in 2008 from the passion of a handful of volunteers for rock and extreme music, the Les Cheminées du Rock festival has established itself as a must-attend event on the rock scene in Haute-Vienne. Every first weekend of August, the small village of Saillat-sur-Vienne, nestled on the banks of the Vienne at the edge of Limousin, vibrates to the rhythm of two intense evenings of concerts mixing rock, punk, metal, and hardcore.

A Unique Concept Between Indoor and Outdoor

The originality of Les Cheminées du Rock lies in its dual format. The Salle des Fêtes (village hall) of Saillat-sur-Vienne hosts the ticketed program with national and international headliners: bands like Black Bomb A, Guerilla Poubelle, Elmer Food Beat, The Real McKenzies, or Washington Dead Cats have graced this stage over the years. In parallel, a free outdoor village offers a second stage open to all, surrounded by food stalls, local artisans, and a friendly bar.

Much More Than a Music Festival

Beyond the concerts, Les Cheminées du Rock cultivates a festive and participatory spirit. On Saturday afternoons, an off-program offers quirky entertainment: recycled batucada, pogofit, blind test, and guinguette atmosphere. The free camping allows festival-goers to extend the experience and connect in a warm and good-natured atmosphere.

Supported by the association Les Cheminées du Rock and its dozens of volunteers, the festival is a major cultural player in the northwest of Haute-Vienne. In sixteen editions, it has built a loyal audience from all over France, attracting both extreme music enthusiasts and families and the curious. Children under 12 get in for free, demonstrating the event's commitment to inclusivity.
