Summer open-air concerts at the Moulin de Brainans
Le Moulin de Brainans is a Contemporary Music Venue (SMAC) located in an old mill on the banks of the Cuisance, in the village of Brainans, a few kilometers from Lons-le-Saunier. Since 1995, the Promodégel association has been developing a regular and varied musical program there, making this atypical place a major cultural hub in the Jura department.
From September to June, Le Moulin offers weekly concerts in its main hall and in its annex spaces (Le Bœuf sur le Toit, L'Entre Deux). The program embraces a wide variety of musical genres:
In summer, Le Moulin de Brainans opens its outdoor spaces for open-air concerts in a privileged natural setting. The mill's park, by the river, offers a rustic and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy music under the stars. Les Estivales du Moulin are a highlight of the annual program, attracting a varied audience of contemporary music lovers.
Each year, at the end of spring, Le Moulin de Brainans organizes Les Nuits (Re)Belles, a traveling and free music festival that tours the Jura communes. In 2026, the edition will be held from May 29 to June 21 and will stop in twelve communes of Jura. This festival highlights discovery stages and allows the public to (re)discover villages and unusual places in Jura while enjoying open-air concerts. Les Nuits (Re)Belles embody Le Moulin's mission to bring music closer to the inhabitants of the region.
Beyond broadcasting, Le Moulin de Brainans develops ambitious cultural actions. The PHARE program supports musicians in their professional careers. Auditory awareness workshops (hearing protection) are offered to the public. Le Moulin actively participates in the Contrats Territoire Droits Culturels (CTDC) in Bresse Haute Seille and Cœur du Jura, affirming its territorial roots.
For summer 2026, the Moulin de Brainans unfolds its outdoor summer season through the itinerant and free Les Nuits (Re)Belles festival, from May 29 to June 21, 2026. Twelve communes in Jura host discovery stage concerts in unusual locations (village squares, parks, schoolyards, natural sites). The Moulin's summer season then continues with occasional outdoor concerts until summer.
The summer highlight of the Moulin de Brainans, Jura's Contemporary Music Venue, is the itinerant festival Les Nuits (Re)Belles, entirely free. For the 2026 edition, scheduled from May 29 to June 21, 2026, the festival travels through twelve communes in Jura and offers outdoor concerts every evening (with indoor fallback in case of bad weather), showcasing emerging artists from the region.
The festival stops in Chaumergy, Biarne, Vevy, Pupillin, Le Vaudioux, Parcey, Romange, Grozon, Cerniébaud, Vaudrey, Chille, and Picarreau. Each evening combines concerts and activities offered by local associations and communes (musical, culinary, sports, and cultural), in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere.
All Les Nuits (Re)Belles evenings are free to access. The full program and practical information are available on the Moulin de Brainans website.
