The Moulin de Brainans: Jura's Contemporary Music Venue

The Moulin de Brainans is a Scène de Musiques Actuelles (SMAC) located in an old mill by the Cuisance river, in the village of Brainans, a few kilometers from Lons-le-Saunier. Since 1995, the Promodégel association has developed a regular and varied musical program here, making this unique venue a major cultural hub in the Jura department.

An Eclectic Musical Program

From September to June, the Moulin hosts weekly concerts in its main hall and annex spaces (Le Bœuf sur le Toit, L'Entre Deux). The program covers a wide diversity of musical genres:

• Rock and Pop: emerging and established bands
• French Chanson: singer-songwriters
• World Music: global music and fusions
• Electro: DJ sets and electronic performances
• Jazz and Improvised Music: creations and jam sessions

Les Estivales: Open-Air Music

In the summer, the Moulin de Brainans opens its outdoor spaces for open-air concerts in a privileged natural setting. The mill's park, by the river, offers a rustic and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy music under the stars. Les Estivales du Moulin are a highlight of the annual program, attracting a diverse audience of contemporary music lovers.

Les Nuits (Re)Belles: The Free Itinerant Festival

In July, the Moulin de Brainans organizes Les Nuits (Re)Belles, a free itinerant music festival that travels through the Jura communes. This festival showcases emerging artists and allows the public to (re)discover villages and unusual places in the Jura while enjoying open-air concerts. Les Nuits (Re)Belles embody the Moulin's mission to bring music closer to the local inhabitants.

A Place for Creation and Support

Beyond performances, the Moulin de Brainans develops ambitious cultural initiatives. The PHARE program supports musicians in their professional development. Auditory awareness workshops (hearing protection) are offered to the public. The Moulin actively participates in the Contrats Territoire Droits Culturels (CTDC) in Bresse Haute Seille and Cœur du Jura, affirming its local roots.
