When Chalon dances till dawn

Dancing People Don't Die was born in 2019 within the walls of LaPéniche, a legendary concert venue in Chalon-sur-Saône located at 52 quai Saint-Cosme. Driven by the team of this SMAC-labeled venue, the festival quickly established itself as the autumn gathering for electronic music in Burgundy, attracting a passionate and curious audience, from emerging DJs to international headliners.

A multidisciplinary and committed festival

More than just a succession of DJ sets, DPDD is a multidisciplinary festival that combines documentary screenings, debates, DJing initiation workshops, events for young audiences, and exhibitions. The festival takes over several venues in Chalon-sur-Saône: the main hall of LaPéniche, the adjacent Abattoir, the Auditorium of the Conservatory, but also bars in the city center for electronic warm-ups on terraces. This multifaceted dimension makes DPDD much more than a musical event: a true moment of reflection and sharing around electronic cultures.

A cutting-edge and eclectic program

The program of Dancing People Don't Die navigates between aesthetics, from bass music to dark techno, from ambient to jungle, from drum'n'bass to house, as well as more experimental offerings. Among the artists who have marked past editions: Elisa Do Brasil, Marina Herlop, POPOF, Dat Politics, La Jungle, MadMadMad, and Balani Sound System. The festival gives prominence to female artists and emerging scenes.

The DPDD spirit: dancing is resisting

The festival's name is a manifesto: people who dance don't die. This philosophy permeates every edition, transforming evenings into true collective communions where the dancefloor becomes a space of freedom. From 8 PM to 3 AM or 4 AM, the audience is carried away by the sound vibrations in an atmosphere that is both intimate and electrifying, true to the spirit of LaPéniche.
